Japanese synths are a niche otaku interest.

Post some Korgs, Yamahas, Rolands, Kawais, Casios, and Teiscos.

Japanese musician and songwriter Taiji Sawada died yesterday morning at the Commonwealth Health Center, Saipan, some three days after he reportedly tried to kill himself.

A Department of Public Safety official confirmed that Sawada passed away at 11am. The official, who requested anonymity, said that Sawada's body was taken to CHC's morgue. He refused to elaborate.

A Department of Public Health staff separately said that Sawada had been on life support at the intensive care unit after he became brain dead. Sawada's family made the decision to unhook the life support system, the staff said.

The staff said that Sawada's mother and his girlfriend were at the hospital.

How do I make GBA music like Mother 3? Do I need a synth for it?

>> No.10543663

>>10543627
Most synths let you make your own voices/instruments, either on the device itself or through computer software. It's generally pretty easy to get something that sounds like it's from a game, because the music chips they used were technically fairly simple.

However, if you want to make "real" GBA music, you'll need to use a tracker. Some trackers support MIDI devices, that is you can hook up a keyboard to your computer and play the music, the tracker software then converts key presses into a format that could actually be played by a GBA. I'm actually not sure if there's a tracker that does this for the GBA, but there are for most consoles. There's actually a tracker *for* the original Game Boy called Little Sound DJ. It's pretty neat.

So all of those varied "instruments" that play on the GBA games can all be emulated through a synth with a MIDI device?

The NES had some cool sound chips (MMCs) that can be emulated on computers now.

If you ever played Castlevania III, go get the Japanese ROM. The Japanese version had a special VRC6 chip. As well as doing some snazzy sprite effects, the music is just orgasmic.

I have a Korg M1 from the late '80s. Sadly I don't use it that much, I am too spoiled by software synths.

It would be considered a hardware synthesizer. Of course being analog is does have software but the distinction is comes from it being a standalone piece of hardware. I know some people have disorders that require you always be very specific but for normal people it isn't a big deal.

Know that feeling, anon.
I have a Casio p120 and a korg x50, but never use the korg since the keys feel like shit.
I use my laptop with fruity loops and plug it in the casio.

I didn't know chairs took power these days.

Anyway, I like your equipment and setup. I've got a nice space to my right that could use a keyboard as well. One of these days.

I want a Micro KORG/Micro KORG XL... But my primary passion in life is guitar and if I have spare money I usually spend it on that.

I know enough music theory to be able to play keyboard/piano but I wish the black keys were the same size as the white ones.
As a guitarist it would make scales so much easier, I wouldn't have to relearn the steps.

I tried connecting my piano to my PC's line-in. But apparently, the output doesn't have enough power and is too quiet even when I turn up the volume all the way.

>> No.10547689

>>10547676
It's not the line-in that you want to connect it to, you'll want to get a midi-to-usb cable, if your keyboard has a midi out.
