Boris, ミドリ, the list could go on.
world's end girlfriend, Mass of the Fermenting Dregs are cool on /mu/ too.

Obviously Merzbow. And while we are at it, Masonna.

Sometimes they'll even discuss きゃりーぱみゅぱみゅ and capsule.

It's very likely that they listen to more japanese stuff, the point is that it clearly can be talked about on /mu/. Unless by japanese you mean doujin touhou music.

I like noise. My favorite artists are Vomir for his wall noise and Sewer Election for his Vidoppna Sar and Kassettmusik releases. The rest is just pretty random shit, nothing specific. I mostly just like listening to some random wall noise. Besides noise around that genre I like dark ambient and death industrial.

Vomir is honestly to repetitive for me. At least ones like Nadja have a melody, and ones like merzbow are creative with the noise. I can understand why someone would listen to Vomir but I think it is stupid to actually buy it. Or maybe it is just too deep for me.

i would basically agree with your assessment, although this is a better example of trance, as Blood Clot is closer to techno imo:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3DxN0VNBCg

ENS used to be, more or less, strictly techno. then their albums shifted more toward trance and a little bit of hardcore, and now they're mostly doing electro-house and "dance." although there's typically a little bit of everything so it's hard to be specific.

>>10801152
no i would definitely agree that it's house. it also has trance elements and sounds sort of like lounge music at parts, though.

>> No.10801189

Well since I am bad at looking at music logically (notes, time signatures, key, etc) and much better at the art and creative side of it I can discern it so far as:

House: Bass driven slow very often loungey
Techno: UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ
Trance: Melodic, long drawn out notes, uses something I like to refer to as a ''epic build up'' until it explodes into the main part. Trance has always been the most emotional for me out of all the entry level electronic sub genres.

What do people here generally think of the newer ENS albums? I thought Definite Energy was great especially the instrumentals. Also, I liked lyrical Crimson a lot but good god some of the singing on that is cringe worthy, most noticeably on Girl's Mind which sucks because the music is really good.

Agalloch is extremely emotionally moving, for me anyways. Take that away and you still have a brilliant mix of many different genres including black metal post rock neoclassical and ''The Cure'' sounding guitar work and even doom metal at times. The themes of natures go along great with the music, and almost every song is a masterpiece in my eyes. His screaming is great, it sounds icy at times at others emotional and counters well with his clear singing. The band is constantly proving that they can experiment and put out new stuff.

The one ''flaw'' for many people is it takes many personal listens with headphone without doing many other things while listening to truly understand, especially albums like Ashes Against the Grain. I thought AAtG was mediocre the first time I heard it. It is hard to digest but I like albums that get better the more you listen to them.

I found the MDR-V6's to have really sibilant cymbal crashes when I first picked up a pair. I don't know if I got used to it or if they've been burned in or whatever, but I don't notice it at all now. I'd imagine they'd be simple to EQ out anyways.

Pretty happy with it, it's quite solid and even through and through.

I recently download a few CDs from Guhroovy (two NO+CHIN mixes and two compilations) but haven't got around to listening to them.

I also got all (well, missing 1 release) on Highemotion Recordings/HEB by DJ Bug and currently going through them. On volume 2 now. They are all mix CDs, mostly UK Hardcore with some Hard House/Trance/Gabber/Hardstyle and smaller amounts of Drum & Bass in the mixes. Recommended if you like stuff by DJ Shimamura, TANUKI, Black Ace, Fracus & Darwin, slightly older Darren Styles etc.

This. They care more about the hipster-factor and about knowing the names of the musicians, that's all they talk about with their hipster friends as if that makes them socially important.

Just a bunch of weak faggots who define their lives by living in the shadows of shitty bands.

Probably some more from me in this thread I am missing but my point is some of the bands I posted could be called by some ''hipster'' or ''pretentious'' I don't think it is a band thing to search for bands that are not well known so that you don't just listen to what every normal listens to these days. My problem is that people care more about the artist then the actual music, if it sounds like shit but the artist is wearing cool hoodies and gold chains and talks about his ''swag'' then everyone listens to it. One of my other biggest problems with music listeners these days is that the only confine themselves to one or two genres instead of exploring the whole medium.

If I had to take a guess it's because most of the people in the field start out poor and can do one thing well and can't afford a team.
So if they can rap but not make beats then they'll have to take someone elses if they even want a chance.

I don't see it as a bad thing at all so long as the final product sounds good then why not.

It's more like taking something as a base then changing or adding to it, kind of like software. It's not flat out copying or "stealing" most of the time.

If it's unchanged it's usually short. I see samples like that as quotes in paper works.

I don't know how you can see it as a bad thing.
