>I've always found the concept of a date awkward

Me too. I mean, the whole point is that one or both of you is trying to win the other over so you can sleep together. That seems creepy, or at least a little awkward. Do neurotypicals not realize this, or is it the point? If it's the point, how come it's fine to walk over to a lady and say, "Hey, would you like to go for a drink some time?" i.e. "I would like to court you in an attempt to have sex with you", but when I follow a girl around for six whole months of my own time she says it's too creepy and she'll phone the police if I don't leave her alone?

>> No.10904325

>>10904306
well for the average person, a date probably amounts to sex, but it doesn't have to. A date is typically an attempt to connect and understand each other through personal interactions, and although it may seem the case, one party isn't necessarily trying to "win the other over".
Through personal interactions, two parties are actually trying to make connections and establish the premise that they're fit for each other. More than anything, a date is like an experiment rather than a competition.

I see. Well, I would still be weirded out. You're sitting a few feet away from a girl or boy who is judging you and trying to decide how sexually compatible you are.

If it was an organic progression like you just decided to hang out and then you decided to go for a meal or something, that's fine. But to ask someone out on a date (especially if you call it a "date") is just strange. Why wouldn't you go into self-awareness overdrive knowing you're "on a date"?

>> No.10904374 [DELETED]

>>10904336
you're right, it would be extremely weird for a girl/boy to be judging you and trying to decide how sexually compatible you are
and yes you would become very self-aware, as is the cliche
but this is a common erroneous perception. rather than to format one self to appeal to another, the point of the date is to express oneself and to elicit a response. This is why most people would tell a person who is going on a date to "be themselves". On the other hand, fear of rejection causes great anxiety in this case, since a most people take failed dates as signs that they're personalities are inadequate, when in actuality there probably was just a mismatch.
This is also why most successful dates are with established friends who already have a connection with each other, and not with some total stranger off the internet.
If a person is going on a date purely to get sum fuk, we call that a hook-up, and there are services out there for that.

And we went in her pool with her grandma watching us to make sure we didn't drown or have sex or anything
And I thought it would be funny if I farted underwater and made stinky bubbles in the pool water!!!

I hit it off with a girl when I was waiting for the bus. It was just us waiting at the stop and the bus was like 15 minutes late so we just talked until it finally came a half hour later. Then we chatted on the bus, exchanged numbers, and went out on a date a few days later.

I don't really consider myself a normie, but we talked about who we are and whatnot. 30 minutes goes by really quickly, I've spoken to this girl for a good 15 hours so far and every time I talk to her I find something new to talk about all while never bringing up my secret hobbies.

The trick is to let the girl do the majority of the talking since girls love to talk. Just agree, make comments to keep it going, and smile...then you're golden. You just have to get over your anxiety, or take pills to make you feel better regarding it.
