Hey /jp/, /tg/ here. We're friends, right?

We've got a problem. A 4koma's out that is relevant to our interests, but we only have scans of volume 1. There are also volumes 2 and 3, available on amazon,jp, but as you know they don't ship to us dirty gaijin. Anyone know a reputable middleman shipping service?

http://www.batoto.net/read/_/180622/quick-start_v1_ch1_by_tg-scanlations

there's a link to volume 1 so far, if you want it.

I'll trade you my pocket patche for the info.

Bullshit. They ship everywhere, and first class priority too.

Have they changed policy recently? Last time I tried I was told to bugger off because I was out of their shipping area.

But Amazon ships to gaijins. They only don't sell a few select things like computer software abroad, for reasons that elude me. There are no such problems with comics.

You taking the piss, m8?

Also this seems like a pretty cute comic, thanks for sharing. Does your scanlation group have a website or anything so I can follow your progress?

And were the Record of Lodoss War replays ever translated? I always wanted to read those.

>> No.11641057

This manga is too high level for me. I don't know shit about pen and paper RPG's, so having to read the translation notes every single page is just quickly killing my enthusiasm.

Way, way, way too many terms that noobs could be unfamiliar with.

>> No.11641061

>>11641057
Even as a former /tg/ goer, some of these I don't agree with.

"FLGS" for example, among other small little references could be done away with.

>> No.11641127

>>11641001
We've got an IRC channel, but it's pretty much dead. After the initial burst of translation, we realized we were having trouble getting hold of the other volumes. Nobody had money AND a scanner. I tried to order, but like I said, got a vague "Sorry you're out of the shipping area" message, and IIRC a suggestion to go to amazon.com instead. I'll try again later today, see what happens. That's assuming I can get in contact with the translators again, and they're still interested.

>>11641061
we used to have arguments about that sort of thing. Sometimes we changed shit, sometimes we didn't.

>>11641057
honestly that's part of the appeal for some of us grogs. There's differences in the way the games are structured, and we love that shit.

>> No.11641139

>>11641061
Is FLGS even a regular term? I thought it was just a /tg/ thing.

Out of curiosity, what was it in the original Japanese?

>> No.11641162

>>11641139
No idea what it was in the original japanese. FLGS is actually starting to see use. If you go on Fantasy Flight Game's website, for instance, they use FLGS. "our products availible online or in your favorite FLGS" or something like that.
(They're a decent-sized publisher)

I've seen it in other places too.

That's kind of sad. It doesn't have the same charm to it. When I think of FLGS, I think of some independent little shop where everyone knows your name. LGS sounds more like Corporation-Owned Store #3918.

F, you are the loneliest letter.

>> No.11641235

>>11641232
That is, really, the difference. FLGS is a title that /tg/ bestows to shops where it feels comfortable going and playing. LGS is just a game store that happens to be close to your house.

You should probably try goody-japan.com.

They're pretty quick and reliable. Their rates are a little cheaper, so any additional shipping and commission costs they add will be about 40-60% of the original price of the products you want shipped. Other services like Shopping mall Japan could end up adding 75-100% to the original price of your orders.

Op here, I'm wondering if it has something to do with "niche" products. Not products catering to a certain things, like porno or anime merch, but a review cost-to-profit thing. They estimate how much checking it to see if it would cause them trouble would cost, and guesstimate if the revenue stream would make up for it. Really small things like this 4koma, which caters to a small audience and uses a lot of japanese-centric terms which would be a pain to translate, and impossible to talk about overseas without the massive number of TNs we have, simply don't have the potential to make enough money to be worth reviewing it, and DEFINITELY not enough to just ship the damn thing and dive into your piles of cash to hide whenever someone mad comes a-knockin'.

Forgot to say, it could be brand-related. Like, how much industry clout the publisher of the media has. I kinda doubt that, though.

I wish I could play this stuff, but I don't have friends to play with and I don't have the patiente to learn a couple of rulebooks.
Anyway, are the translations loyal? Because there's a scene with black saying "Panzer Vor!", did you just enfatize the scene with a GuP ref or is it that way in the original text too?
Good job anyway, I don't really understand the various mechanics but it's fun to read.

>> No.11643997

>>11643992
what page? I can't tell you exactly, but I CAN post the relevant raw page. We tried to keep it relevant, and my guess is that it's that way in the original text.

Frankly, we don't understand most of the mechanics either. None of these RPGs have been translated or even scanned, so we're going off of vaguely understood statements on japanese TRPG sites that turn up when we search the game and terms in japanese, and what we know of western TRPGs, which are designed very different from japanese TRPGs, apparently.
