12246523 No.12246523[DELETED]  [Reply] [Original]

I think you all(or new userbase) may changed too much from a couple years ago.

When someone makes a thread or post that is really bad for /jp/(ignore this one), I want to really put them down and make them feel bad.
Well, I want them to feel that way, but I can't bring myself to say what I want to.

Bullying sucks when the person is innocent, but if you're too nice about it they just carry on doing what they want and don't care.
Making them feel bad and be aware of their /a//reddit/etc behaviour stops them doing it again. Unless they're a troll.
And encouraging others to do the same only makes the visitors get the wrong idea about this place.

Maybe it's too far gone now.
I blame all the generals( real tumblr/redditors use them and say "oh yeah /jp/ is shit, but I go there for the ____ general") and you can even see them use their own memes and crap seriously.

It's very selfish of them, and I don't see anyone telling them to stop.

Sometimes it can funny, but for the people that spend a lot of time here, it slowly ruins their board.

Please be considerate, jokers!

I think the decay is for the most part irreversible.

"Veterans", or at least individuals who could be expected to post in accordance with and openly encourage certain forms of interaction have been gradually repulsed/stifled/bored to shit by the restrictive, absurd moderation tendencies that gradually phased in over the last 3 or so years. The board is now stagnant, intellectually and culturally because those in administrative roles sought to homogenize the absolute shit out of this place with the overall aim of re-creating the insipid, tame interaction style one could anticipate on any generic forum, sans identity. The result of this to the surprise of no one, is a community lacking both the consistent posting quality associated with identity and experimental communication freedoms intrinsic to an anonymous environment. Interesting folks left and new, uncultured subhumans gradually accumulated. They now outnumber those who would be compelled to uphold or create any form of board quality; the result is a sterile, boring mess with little fragments of shit swirling around in it that are the vestigial cultural elements redditors/etc bring with them from their terrible, base origins. To exacerbate this effective lobotomization, touhou now faces competition for the attention of retards within the cute cannonically pliable girls doing related things genre of fandom.

It's not selfishness, it's stupidity. The assumption that this garbage is even conscious of how dull and virulent it ultimately is is far too generous.

So, I've scammed warosu and looked up some old threads from 2009. What I got was:
- same pasta as nowadays
- less gay, less sexual frustration in general
- everyone was sageing, reporting and filtering the shit out of everyone (>>>3632968 ff)
- pretty rude behavior if aggravated
- no hugboxes
- no generals
- you could discuss almost everything if it was somehow related (>>>3636167)
- "x is japanese" was a valid way to legitimize a topic (>>>3634119)
- people thought /jp/ was shit even back then (>>>3634722)
- posting cute stuff and being cute was okay and not against the rules (>>>3633454)

All in all, however, it felt like Anons back then were more knowledgeable about stuff, in general. There was a thread discussing ZUN's music CDs. and the characters introduced therein. The Fate games were also discussed more vibrantly (see >>>3633421).

I think tripcodes can be healthy in a small, recluse community. In fact it turns the board into a regular forum. If the content quality isn't so bad and people browsing are legitimately interested in the content posted, then it can only help developing history between the participants. Knowing who is who in a internet discussion can give a stronger direction to the conversation.

Although, once the community is grown and the interests are too divergent, it becomes a cancer based on fame and drama and look-how-interesting-i-am.

I agree with this. Tripcodes are meant to be used when you need to (e.g. the VNTLS OP started using a tripcode when people started copying it). However, while generally tripfriends are bad posters, some of them can be no worse than an anonymous poster (I'd mention examples but it would just turn into shitflinging). The small increase in posting quality that their presence might cause for some tripfriends isn't reason enough to keep them, because, for most tripfriends, it ends up reducing the posting quality.

There's so much new that negative behaviors that were once used as jokes or sarcasm are now taken seriously. And since so many new posters visit every day, there are enough of them at all times to gang up on you for condemning them. Several of my friends are just like this and it always upset me. I was just happy that they were happy, but at the same time it was depressing to see people misuse 4chan as a meme factory.

I came to /a/ in 2008 just after the split because my friend kept posting links to threads that had screencaps from shows. I was 15 at the time and I was just starting to become weird. I was the definition of new and underage at the time and I really didn't understand or care about anything like anonymity. I had my home address exposed through geotagging and that's when I gained a greater appreciation for anonymity. I was honestly afraid something bad would happen because I was threatened with pizza. Nothing actually happened but I learned something very important. I admit it even though it's genuinely embarrassing, but that's the kind of stuff you used to be able to do. Now you get banned for doing that to newfags. If you call an actual newfag a newfag, you're called /b/ or something retarded like that. You can't even make fun of people with samefag obsessions with that infamous image. That image isn't posted anymore so nobody learns about how you can't actually check and why whether or not someone is the same person shouldn't matter to you. It's become so unheard of that people actually beg for thread wide ids that would completely destroy all anonymity. The existence of /q/ made me realize just how soft we are today.

That's primarily who's going to be attracted to a 2D/Random board though. It's just going to end up a SFW(?), 2D /s4s/.

Asuka only has three slices of watermelon, each approximately a forty-degree angle worth of watermelon. Those three slices wouldn't even compose half a watermelon, and the origin watermelon was visibly small, too. Top all of this off with the fact that Asuka isn't known to eat particularly many sweets, and she exercises regularly and has done so for most of her life, and there's no chance that watermelon could give Asuka diabetes.

Refer to >>12246833 for watermelon slice size.

Anything you could post in a 2D / Random board you can post in /a/. Monster girls, visual novels, H-manga, stories about how you want to fuck your IRL little sister conspicuously masquerading as a 2D imouto thread, it is seriously anything goes in there.

Yes, they were terrible and attracted people who didn't have anything to do with otaku culture, it was shitty /r9k/ blogging.

NEET threads were just a series of bastardized versions of the occasional ronery/blogging threads that the board had once in a while, which like other topics are fine in moderation but become cancerous if you turn it into a 24/7 general.

She is the human form of Eve or something, in the image of Shinji's mother. Eve represents the limitless potential of humanity= hundreds of Rei clones.

She was never human. She only serves as a catalyst for Shinji's delusions and a narrator late in the story
