Met him on a touhou forum. His interest in touhou only lasted two weeks, and I'm too polite to tell him to leave me alone.

That's why I don't even bother with Steam anymore.
I had it for like a couple of months when it was considered a boom but unistalled it when I realized all I would do was buying shitty flavor of the month games just because they were on sale and see people even retards like /v/ hate.

Sadly, the best way to use Steam is to avoid the forums. In the forums, you find :
- the moron who can't do the tutorial and who wants to be spoonfed,
- the guy who's "just asking how that game is ;)" which causes a massive shitstorm,
- the inbred cretin who makes a thread to complain about something related to Steam in a subforum dedicated to the game,
- that one guy who doesn't like the game and wants everyone to know it, in caps lock of course,
- the guy who starts an AAR, get interrupted by trolls, and give up,
- the underage kid asking if there's sex in the game,
- the drone that will use all kind of fallacies to prove that you're wrong to dislike the current scam (including the "you haven't even played it", even through it's easy to check),
- the hopeless moron who ask people to spend money for a stranger on the internet,
- the pirate who's a lot more skilled than anyone else but treat everyone like shit because they actually paid for the game,
- the nazi moderator who doesn't understand how moderation works and end up banning people who complained about the game.

I don't use Steam anymore. Aside from not having any form of income to keep buying games, at some point I seemed to forget that Steam is merely a digital game distribution platform and started using it as a socially inept version of Facebook instead. I had a bunch of "friends" there but removed them a long time ago, also the TF2 server on which I found most of them stopped being active. There was also a group chat I used to frequent for another game, but that chat stopped being active as well.

Besides, the last friend I had played almost nothing but Dota 2 which wasn't very fun for me because I'm bad at MOBAs.

Sometimes people will message me, and I'll get really annoyed, I'll say hi, maybe throw in a how are you, then go silent, but they keep wanting to talk to me some more despite my flawless silent treatment.

But I don't want to tell them to piss off either because then I really will have no friends.
