What's the big deal about idols?

If you just like the music, alright, that's completely fine. Would you, however, still like the music if it was sung by an ugly girl rather than a cute one?

They basically make their living by milking lonely men. What I don't understand is why these people continue to worship them. Do they think that if they spend enough money, they'll one day get to go out with the idols? This really seems to be it seeing just how mad people sometimes get when an idol announces she's dating someone. It's not like any of the fans would ever even have made a move on the girl anyway, so what's the problem?

Obsession driven behavior over ideals. Basically the fans want to believe they exist as perfectly as they seem to be. Many of which actually wouldn't even date the idols themselves given the chance, but rather want them to remain pure.

To them men dating them, its comparable to dating a single mom but instead of a needy child that doesn't want you dating his mom its instead a hoard of obsessive otaku. I'd love to see what happens if an idol ever ends up dating a handsome foreign guy or someone muscular and "fun".

I like some less known idol groups, the fact that they're underground and unsigned somehow makes them realer and cuter.

But I can't deal with their fans, I went to an idol show once at Club Quatro in Shibuya and it was terrifying.

Idol business is created to make less Japanese girls work in prostitution, give them a healthier alternative of working as idol instead of whoring.
