Tsukihime is my favorite VN as well

I haven't read very many because I typically find them to be very, very hit-and-miss, with nearly all of them being misses; even the ones that most people blindly love.

For example:

I thought Higurashi was way too cheesy to be scary or even taken seriously, and when it wasn't being cheesy it was typically boring. There were a couple of interesting parts but for the most part I didn't enjoy myself. I quit before I even finished the first game, but I think I was close to the end. I looked up the plot just to see what the mystery was about, and holy fuck is it dumb. I'm glad I didn't waste my time.

Umineko was like intro to logic, debate and philosophy 101 for dummies- starter's kit

It took for fucking ever to get interesting, and by the time it did the game was almost over. I can't believe I finished it. There are a few good parts in there, though.

Remember11.

It's an incomplete Ever17, with some cases of deja vu, but I liked the atmosphere. Ever17 was never hostile enough for people trapped in a flooding building with no help.

Been forever since I read it, so probably gonna get stuff wrong, but whatever.

MC is alone in a spooky house hearing and seeing spooky things. As the night progresses its hinted that something terrible happened, until we finally find out MC beat someone to death with a bat and the guilt of doing so is driving them crazy. The person the MC killed was actually their sibling, and a hallucination of them chases them up to the attic near the end of the story, where the truth is unveiled. It's revealed there that there used to be three kids, until an accident while playing killed one by hanging. This drove the survivors and parents a little bonkers. Parents just packed up and left, leaving MC and his bro/sis alone. Bro/sis starts dressing up like dead sibling. Seeing the supposedly dead sibling up and walking around drives MC completely up the wall, leading to murder time. You get a single choice at this point; either refuse to front up to the truth, which leads to MC hanging themselves, or face reality, which leads to MC winding up in an asylum with a pair of dolls they think are their siblings.

Talking about Umineko gets worse the higher is the powerlevel of the person discussing it, because you get less and less people actually trying to understand the story the 'higher' you go, and more people saying it's shit for the sake of showing what connoisseurs of chinese audio books they are.
A lot of the time the complaint is even that it's not a murder mystery anymore, when the story wasn't about that from the very start, and they claim Ryu07 pulled things out of his ass as he went, despite there being theories he confirmed or disproved from the days of Book 1 coherent with what was unveiled later.

But what I find the most annoying is the ones who seriously get up to bitch and moan about the critique towards the goats. They feel touched, they feel like the writer is bullying them and that Ryu07 hates everyone who wants an answer, and they bitch and moan in reply, screaming like children that he's a hack because he's critiquing them, once more showing how poor of an understanding they have even of the simplest concepts.
Really, of all the retarded shit the Umineko detractors say, the "Ryu07 hates people who want answers" is the one that annoys me the most, because it makes me wonder if the people spouting that even read the damn thing, or at least read it to enjoy it and not just with the "I'm going to read it so I can complain about it EVEN BETTER now!" mindset.

>Write murder mystery
This is true. Although it becomes increasingly clear that R07 also wanted to say something about the mystery genre. Namely, he wanted to remind readers that whodunnits are as much tragedies as they are mysteries. The way audiences treat characters in a mystery is fairly interesting, and R07 wanted to play with that idea - combining multiple genres. It was clear from the start that Umineko was never intended to be an average fictional murder mystery, and simply calling it one is just odd.
>Back yourself into a corner
No.
>Lash out, saying people are terrible for wanting an answer
No. How did he do this?
>Give a retarded explination with trannies who no one noticed were multiple people
I'm guessing he meant to say that no one noticed they were the same person. Again, not true. Genji and Kumasawa were aware. Shannon and Kanon were probably never working in the house at the same time - servants from the orphanage don't actually spend an awful lot of time working. Kanon and Shannon were both employed during the family meeting because of the special occasion requiring more than one orphanage servant.
>Even then admit it's not perfect as no one got wet from the rain
I've never actually thought about this personally, so maybe he has a point.

I've tested both in the past and they both worked fine.
Onscripter had a little bug at the day change pages, because the official engine was modified slightly to scale the background to fit properly or something. But it was playable, supposedly from start to finish, and setting a custom resolution allows for higher res text.
Not sure if any other effects were missing though.

WINE is probably the better option for accuracy.

Thanks for confirming you're still salty.
Why don't you take a chill pill?

Enlighten me and I'll be on my way.

We can even make a guessing game out of it if you're really inclined to be a contrary bastard.

And now personal attacks, huh?
Have fun playing alone with someone who too was raised in a brothel, I'm not going to waste my time with a subhuman being who can't talk without constantly insulting belittling everyone who dare disagree with his snowflake opinion.

Not him, m8, but I just took some chill pills. Then I opened up a nukige and made it to a sex scene. At which point all I felt like doing was staring at the screen.
This is probably my favorite thing to do with VNs. Even just staring at them feels better than reading them sober.

MLA was trash.
Muv Luv as a whole was trash.

MLU was the best though.

Always when I see all these people claiming Muv Luv alternative is their favorite VN I get a fuzzy feeling that their favorite game is a straight up copy of my favorite game.

Feels pretty good.

``retarded EOPs'' is redundant. As one must, by definition, be retarded by their unwillingness or inability to learn the source language.
Not trying to be offensive or elitist at all, just correct in wording.

Funny how you say that, I was thinking about how MLA was similar to it when playing it after I got it on the PSN store. Isn't Japan the only country left or something, though? I didn't progress much further beyond one or two hours.

So reply to the non EOP posts like EOPs are doing among themselves instead of shitposting about shitposts.

You have to be the only person to type quotes like that. I refuse to believe more than one person can get it so wrong.

>Isn't Japan the only country left or something, though?

No. Humanity has been on the verge of defeat, and Japan is being invaded since the front lines in Eurasia retreated, but it's not the only one left though.

But man, you should keep playing it. The game can be very tough if you're not on the top of your game, but if this game is for you, it will very likely become your favorite game of all time.

As it is mine

Leopold FC400R, JIS layout, with extensive hotkeys for quick input of special characters such as those quotes and unicode arrows and mozc as my IME. I could, yeah; but that's no fun.
