Or you could just get one of those jobs where you look busy doing nothing and tell people to leave you alone so you can get work done. If you don't make any friends, don't talk to anyone, and nobody notices you, you can just live in the office. If the office is your home and you never leave or do work, isn't that close enough?

But work will set you free.

Why can't you guys just find a job that you can lose yourself in? Something that you don't need to think to do, like grinding or drilling. A real NEET™ can retreat into their mind.

Also as an old NEET I can confirm that it's a cycle :
1) Not working because you're a NEET
2) Time passes
3) The more you're aging, the less employers will want you because you never worked before.
4) Repeat

Either you start working earlier or you're fucked, from society's point of view.

There is always need for extra hands. As long as people live there will be manual, unskilled jobs. These are the simplest jobs and the easiest to let your mind wander while working.

If you don't want to do that then you can always freelance datamining.

Misconception.

Amusingly if you went to school and/or got some degrees, they won't accept you as they'd rather "keep the spots for people who need them". Understand immigrants, people who never got to school, and so on.

That's for Europe though. I don't know how it works in America.

I've never enjoyed working once in my life. Going through school was a huge pain, even gradeschool, and I never wanted to do anything with my life or aspired to be anything in particular because I never gained the confidence. I've never been very smart, and I only got a dose of what it was like to be happy and smart for several years when I was prescribed amphetamines to help me with school, and I actually started to enjoy it. Sadly I can't take them anymore because they were affecting my health in a way that doesnt affect most people. Now I have severe daily chronic pain but no real mental illness, got tested for autism but it came back negative so I can't claim autism bucks and I havent worked for years and my parents dont have much longer to live. I'm nearing the end of my rope /jp/.

>> No.14072735

>>14071583
I think this is the core of what it is to be a NEET. You don't feel like putting in the effort because you don't think you'll get anything back. It could be that you've been conditioned to believe there's no reward (by being fucked over by chance or circumstance), or maybe you just never had someone around to give you the perspective you needed to try harder. Maybe you are legit mentally ill. Either way, you end up in a prison of your own making, with no idea of when, if ever, you'll be released.

>> No.14072800

I wanna work but I don't know what I want to do. I'd kill myself if I had to do something like >>14070813 all my life, or even worse, something in retail, but I don't know what to do or say to get a proper job. Even if I did get an interview, I'd probably puke from being judged so hard. Even if I did get the job, I'd be fired when I didn't want to hang out with anyone at work and they conspired to get me fired. Besides that I have no money or car or means to get money or car without having a job first.

I wish I had experience enough that I could work remote jobs over the net or something. (CS grad, so like freelance something or other) I wish I had enough autism to be working on something like DF where people donate to keep me alive or that I had gotten on the kickstarter gravy train. I'd even work for one of those companies that make normiephone games that drain the wallets of everyone, although I'd rather own my own.(game, not company)

I really have to invent some sort of profitable industry for hikkis. Can't I get a job with the FBI monitoring 4chan or something? Some sort of professional moderators or maintainers for MMOs? Having to interact with people face to face all day is going to be the death of me, but if I don't, it's going to be the death of me.

Be a truck driver. They'll train you and make you work for very little for a year or two, but there are a godd number of jobs and you don't have to talk to too many people and you get to see the country while living in your little mobile apartment for days on end.

Not that this will help, but...

>Even if I did get an interview, I'd probably puke from being judged so hard.
Sure, and they'll probably even notice how nervous you are. However, this does not have to be a bad thing. It can show how much you care about the outcome of the interview, which could easily put you above some teenager who doesn't give a fuck.

>Even if I did get the job, I'd be fired when I didn't want to hang out with anyone at work and they conspired to get me fired.
I don't know about retail, but this wouldn't happen in fast food. As long as you demonstrate that you're a hard worker, people will generally want to keep you around, because you'll make their job easier and because being understaffed sucks. If you get promoted to manager, people may dislike you, but you have the power to make them miserable so they generally won't try to fuck with you.

>Besides that I have no money or car or means to get money or car without having a job first.
That's rough. The only consolation I can give here is that you wouldn't be the only person to walk miles to your job every day. However, you may be able to convince someone at work to give you a lift, at least at the end of your shift. It helps to be everyone's favorite coworker.

Anyway, I'm also a CS grad. Sometimes I want to just grab all the NEETs and autistic NEETs I know (all two of them), teach them some skills, and start a company. But I don't even know what we'd make. The industry is so mature these days, it's not like the 90s where you could make a glorified hash table and get rich. And you can't really get away with making garbage and getting rich either, since there's so much garbage out there already. And forget making games when anyone with a nose piercing can download Unity or some other toolkit to make their indie platformer.

Most unskilled labor is rough on you, but I've heard that truck driving is especially rough on the body.

>> No.14073001

Why would truck driving be rough? If you wear a hat, long sleeves and apply sunscreen daily, what else?

>> No.14073044

>>14073001
Not him, but truck driving is far from being a desirable job. It sounds comfy, but it's really not.

The pay is horrendously low and you have little job security. You drive for well over 12 hours a day. Sitting all day is also very unhealthy for the body (although most NEETs just sit in front of their computer all day anyway). While listening to audio books or whatever to pass the time might sound enjoyable, after a week you'll probably want to kill yourself out of boredom.

Maybe when autonomous trucks like >>14072966 said finally come around truck driving will be enjoyable since you can just browse your laptop or phone or tablet or whatever all day, but until then I'd avoid truck driving if possible.

>> No.14073068

>>14073044
He flat out said he already doesn't desire pretty much any job that wasn't him sitting at his computer all day without speaking to anybody though.

Also, I just googled the average as about 51k a year, and alot more if you ever get enough money to buy your own truck and not just work for a company.

>> No.14073092

Construction worker here, I work for a small company. I drill holes, screw screws, glue pipes, etc by myself and just listen to music the while time. I'm a music Otaku so it's enjoyable enough.

Sometimes I talk to to a foreman or workers from other trades, but that's just a matter of staying out of each others' ways.

If you can work in bad weather and get used to half the people around being ex cons it's decent pay and low social interaction.
