I think this too, but in the sense that while humans have hangups about sex and think it's immoral or special or reserved for special times, that animal types still go into heat and can barely control themselves, ones like fairies that probably predate civilization and represent nature don't even have a concept of "morals" like not taking off their clothes and masturbating whenever they feel like, and that a random youkai being fundamentally different doesn't mean "they're free from the plague of horniness" but something more like "They enjoy popping out of your toilet/japanese style hole in the ground right after you taken a shit, and tonging and nibbling at your asshole to make you think there's a rat in there because they are a monster and that is what they do." And then that same youkai will greet you the next day at the Hakurei shine's festival.

In my Gensokyo conflict is solved in sports rather than danmaku. When someone wants to stir up trouble, Reimu challenges them to a game of baseball and rounds up her team. If Reimu's team can't win then, uh, I guess there's always next year.

In all seriousness I always imagined my Gensokyo kind of different.
Most of the youkai are not hostile but still avoided by the people for they unpredictable and hard to understand (and youkai also not exactly wanting humans company).
The human Village is only place for normal humans but it's "Village" only in name.. by size it's more like decent town.
It's weird mix of old & modern, magitek&cyberpunk.

The system Reimu devised here, allows you to beat shit out of someone without killing them (even if using normally fatal powers).
Basically everything bit toned down.
