Well, i done my tour of Lost Irva.
Got all the divine goodies, except the one of jure because you need to do the cradle of chaos and i don't want to trigger the story just yet.

It have gone as expect, overbuff myself, make the godling hostile, and keep out of sight while crying while the monsters duke it out.
Of note is the opatos' godling managed to actually kill the monster. I rezzed and it immediatly slaughtered the goldling of course, but A for effort.
I did got scared when the black cat godling shadow stepped me and missed when gone hostile. Never teleported out as fast. Maybe could have survived the hit, but fuck if i don't want to check it.

Now, on to make me weak as a kitten.

So this is the "borrowed" sprite I've been working on. The only part I really need to mess with here is the border, I think.
First one is no border, second one is black border, third one is a slightly lighter border, fourth one is red borders for the fire while also chopping the border out from between the ears.
Any suggestions? Also Issun came off in the 3rd and 4th ones.

This is for an NPC, no way I'm trying my hand at a PCC yet.

Well, it is finally done. The lowest possible INI possible.
Two important note : one, you only need 12 doomed hermes potions. The 13th is wasted as you apparently can't go below 2 speed.
Two, don't forget to bring potions of potential, after reducing your stats your potential is at 0%, and it seems rotten food gives no negative exp due to that. For pet, it means going to Melugas and letting them train to bring the stats back up ( i thought it was due to blessed potions of restore, nope, it was due to 0% potential )

How do I reset the life and mana? doomed cheese/fruit?
I can't find the relevant data in the wiki.

>> No.17349915

>>17349892
You can't reset life and mana, it always use the base for your race. This also means you don't have to not eat the cheese/fruit.
I started the game as a quickling, so 3 life 40 mana as a base.
Why quickling, because for the INI calculation, if you are below50 life and 50 mana, it used as a default 50 for life and mana, and only quickling and bomb race have both life and mana below 50.

The biflag found on pet are much more useful that life/mana though, metal alone trumps whatever is found on quicklings/bombs... That is, unless you count the grass killer/dancer and their reselem bit :^)

I love games that give me the opportunity to be weak for a large payoff later so much.
Magikarp, onion knight, science-focus in civ, the monk class in the 3ed cRPGs, etc.

20*3.5m = 70m, usually, and 2-3 days seems about right to drop all your skill potentials back down to zero. I personally can afford to spam scrolls of growth but don't because its more of a hassle to go to the souvenier vendor and buy them, bless them and use them than to keep playing the game the same way I did to get this far.

Sword & board works too and is somewhat competitive, unless you're at the point where dual wielding or two-handing would get you one action kills.
From my testing compared to two-hand, you get modestly better performance against things that depend on physical damage, noticeably worse performance against things that use elemental attacks, and are screwed against things that use piercing weapons.

It's also a giant survivability boost in early game.

Board is great if you rely on non-weapon damage source. New gardening skills work really well with sword&shield char - you need some tankyness to get most mobs in your sight. Sometimes nullifies damage enhancements are great as well, personally i'd just go good shield+tonfa+violent garden for early/midgame. Or you can go with MA grenade attack skill. For lategame its easier to simply rely on your pets for dps nowadays, especially for loss mode.

See it's this kind of thinking that I wish wasn't so predominate that it was taken as gospel. Pets get 8x stat gains and get potential from raw gold, so any pet at all is much better than the player, especially with E+Custom AI scripts. But why should that mean that you can ignore differences in playstyle for the PC, or that you shouldn't bother ever getting out of midgame damage? The question isn't "Can i do sword and board in north tyris and give up later," I'm pretty sure the question is, "Will this ever even come close to any other playstyle, including using Atomic Launcher as your main dps?" And the answer appears to be, as far as we've seen so far, is somewhere between "I'm not sure" and "No". Is shield bash good enough lategame? Dunno, I don't think anyone's gone to Kai levels of sword and board. But Violent Garden is not Sword and Board, and it also does not scale to lategame, unfortunately, because it is admittedly super fun early. The meat of the question as I'm seeing it here (and correct me if I'm wrong) is, "Can I sword and board forever without feeling like I'm losing out to any other type of playstyle?"

The more I see Throwing-based build ideas the more fun it looks. You do get extra damage on crit from heavy stones/shurikens right? I think that must be the case, last thread (thread before?) someone (BloodyShade?) posted crit code, said ranged weapon weight doesnt matter, just ammo. But rocks are their own ammo... lost the link, but maybe this can be an exceptionally nice build. Shuriken for bleed damage, follow up with aqua sanctio for real damage.

I'm probably dealing with creatures in the void with max resists since I haven't seen it change for like 1000 floors. Baseline is superb in everything except magic which is normal. Depending on the enemy they may have traits that make them a bit stronger towards certain elements or weaker but usually most enemies hover around the baseline.

Currently my meteor is slightly above lv 1000 and does around 900k with divine wisdom and magic equip running. Against enemies that are pretty resistant to fire it's about 500k and against enemies that are particularly weak to fire around 6 million. If I were to get meteor to lv 2000 I predict the damage to be around 1.4 to 1.7 million damage against enemies that have the baseline resists above.

Meteor is the strongest damaging spell casters have and while it does less than what melee can do, melee could do around 2-3 million, the fact that meteor hits everyone on screen imo makes up for it. Against bosses melee will take it down quicker than magic but magic certainly is good against large crowds.

Can't speak about dual wield mutants as I don't have much knowledge about mutants. Range I can talk a bit about though. Range depends on its special ammo to do good damage. If one doesn't take advantage of special ammo then the damage is going to be lacking compared to other types. Max amount of attacks range can get each turn after stacking increase range attack is 2. Definitely nothing to write home about but if it's combined with special ammo like rapid your attacks per turn get bumped up to 5. Fortunately rapid ammo is plentiful and one of the more easier special ammo to find on ammo. One of the rarest special ammo with low stock to find is burst. That can allow a range user to do around 35 attacks per turn. Other special ammo like pierce, time stop, and explosive can help in certain situations.

While the damage without special ammo is nothing to write home about, the damage with it can be pretty good as long as special ammo stock holds out. To help crit damage out increasing bullet weight through cursed flying scrolls sounds like a good idea. Unfortunately I don't have any real hard numbers to offer up as I'm not a dedicated range user but with what little skill I have in that department the above is what I've observed and predict.

>>17349726
Each hit you have a chance of applying bleed and stacking it if the enemy is already bleeding. Highest bleed tick I got was around 10k on lv 2000ish void enemies. I welcome all additional damage sources but if I had to choose between other options and give up stuff, bleed isn't very good compared to other options. When element damage and invokes are hitting for 100k+ I'd rather have them than bleed.

1. Is there anyway to maximize the use of grenades late game? I love walking into a room full of enemies and just throwing grenades wildly but I know sound resist will trivialize them in maybe act 2 and definitely 3. If there is no way how do the crystal bombs you can craft stack up?

2. How do I make my golem stop throwing his drake rod? I have him a custom script that is literally just move forward if distance > 1, punch if =1. But for some reason he will start throwing the drake rod while in the enemies face every other dungeon and I'll have to reinitialize his ai.

From what I've observed between with an enemy down in the void and one that I sandbagged there is a limit to how many stacks of bleeding you can apply to an enemy. Like the enemy that ticked for 10k I couldn't get a bleed tick higher than that and as the bleed stacks disappeared the damage came down. I sandbagged an enemy down here and again found there was a max amount a bleed tick could get up to. Like I sandbagged another enemy and couldn't get past 10k bleed ticks despite hitting him like a hundred times. Not all enemies I can make bleed for 10k either. Like some I could only make 4k bleed ticks.

I wouldn't worry too much about INI resetting as long as your INI score is reasonable. Reasonable for me anyways is an INI score the default races start with. So the Golem should be fine if you're referring to the player race Golem. Don't know what INI score pet golems can have but as long as it's around the default race INI scores it will be fine. If not you certainly can lower its INI score through the NPC people are talking about. You can min max this if you want but it's not required. Just get it low enough.

There is a cap to the amount of AP you can earn and both my character and my pet Saya have reached it. It's a bit higher than what the wiki reports but both me and my first pet reached it hundreds of hours ago. Haven't tampered with the INI of my character or pets and I didn't really have a problem earning AP for them since their INI scores are reasonable.

From what I can tell the people that min/max their INI scores will probably be able to hit AP cap sooner at least. I will say though that once one is done buying up speed and maybe special actions that one should not count on AP to bonus points alone to cap their skills. For the player there is not nearly enough bonus points from AP to cap a single skill. For a pet though you might be able to cap about 1 through AP to bonus points alone but you must put all your points in that skill. Regardless of INI min/maxing you'll still be doing a fair share of grinding. That's a fate you cannot escape in this game.

>>17349937
Well depending on your playstyle Yacatect might be best for some. I went with Itzpalt first myself. Rods are pretty easy to find in any dungeon and by offering them up I was able to boost my fire,ice, and lightning resist. The god reward staff which I put in my shoot slot since I was a martial artist also helped my resists.

Didn't exactly have to spend a lot of time finding good enough element resist gear due to Itzpalt. Due to this I was able rush the tower of fire and the rest of the story related places. Got the static artifacts from the bosses of those places along with the Palmia Pride. Only really had to focus on getting the resists to deal with Zeome.

Akeno is my pet that I used Karata as a base and no I didn't tamper with the INI score. Karata is a good candidate for lowering its INI score through Maile and I would recommend it but it wasn't something I was willing to do at the time in my case. When the INI resetting feature was introduced Akeno had capped attributes already and fairly high skill levels in regards to her focus. Since INI resetting cuts things in half I wasn't willing to go through with that and do the extra work to bring her back up to cap. I was also already killing things deep enough in the void to give her AP so there wasn't enough incentive for me to do it.

Resetting a pet's INI score ideally should only be done when you first get a pet and before you do any work on them. So in the case of Karata I would definitely take it to see Maile as soon as I got him since his INI score is pretty high. By lowering Karata's INI score you'll have an easier time getting AP for it as you won't have to kill as hard of enemies to start gathering INI for it.

After selling a couple of harvests from 2 farms you'll get enough money. Probably.
My current fairy farmer got roughly half of the gold for shop from fascinating dances in partytimes, but her CHA is high enough for that. But i didnt sell half of pricey food and none of the gems(and i've got roughly 20-25 ore pieces from harvests, those seeds are rather common.

>> No.17354380

Also, I recommended getting shop after 2 farms is because your gardening and cooking should be quite high by the time you get second harvest from second farm, i've had around 60 gardening and around 15 cooking by that time. With occasional unknown seeds you can get hundreds of gold per harvest if you sell it via shop after cooking. And you need to start increasing shop fame as early as possible to support growing harvest values in following months.

You wouldn't mind a dude, but you pick a female PC because girls are cute. Then you pick a pet to marry. A lad would make it an ordinary husband/wife combo, but girls are cute so again you pick one. Also, man in girl clothing is a crossdresser, not trans. If you want to argue on topic of 3rd gender fetishes, at least learn some basic facts first.

Yes that's what I said, you should have told the other guy. Transvestite, while it does have the word trans in it, means crossdresser and not transsexual.

>if you place yourself on girl's place who's only difference from the other girl is her artifical dick
You don't place yourself in the girl's place, because it is a fictional character. Again it doesn't translate to real life. That kind of reasoning would bar you from ever playing as a non-male or non-human character. Self-insertion is the realm of kids or people that have no imagination, like people that name every character in a game their own real name.

You can just steal one once you get to the second continent. This is what I did and I'm also a Dwarf farmer. They never appeared in shops no matter how much I invested or how often I visisted.
I'd suggest getting ranches. I have 8 but if you actually use pets for combat less is fine. You can cook the corpses and eggs to raise cooking and profit. You should easily get more money then you can ever feasibly use for anything beyond the extremely inefficient money sinks that seem to exist just for rich people to waste money on.
Apparently fairies now drop experience of Kuro pretty often so those would be good to ranch. Not sure how fast they breed though.

Please note that if you put a pet in the doujou it loses its custom -taught AI. Thus my question earlier if they lose it when soul spindled. Apparently the way pets get taught in Custom is sort of kludged because altering an npc's moveset is very hard to do, and I'm assuming instead of using unique NPC ids they're stored as lists of generic NPCs in areas, with skill levels hard coded in to be tracked, but otherwise it looks like teaching only works because the spells/abilities are linked to the party member's slot in your party. So you get funny interactions if you turn off its constant acid ground ability, or if you spam web. When it gets stronger and more fireproof I've got to test if it works with burning tiles. All in all, 10/10 pet good flavor.

I might not be Kai but I have a story I'd like to share, A story about how I got my fifth party member. Bear with me since I am a horrible storyteller.

So there I was, dungeon diving mindlessly without a care in the world, when suddenly I'm surprised by quite the uncommon sight. An elf, some might say, an elea, would others; this one, however, had something no other had. She was delicious brown.

I immediately raised the flag, signaling my pets to stop wrecking havoc, so that I could approach her without endangering her, and as soon as they confirmed the command I rushed towards my new found love without hesitation, taking step after step in a continuous stride with no consideration to the possibility my feelings would be unrequited. Seems my approach was a tad too direct however, since as soon as I reached my newfound object of admiration she split all over, leaving nothing but a thin red mist where she once was. I was heartbroken, but not defeated. I knew if I kept crawling through the many dungeons and labyrinths that plague South Tyris I would eventually set eyes on my beloved once more.

Day after day, night after night, floor after floor! I dove and I roamed and I crawled all over, hoping to once again set eyes on my caramel candy, so that I could once more try to get her into my balls. There were many hardships however, as time and time again my mettle was tested by numerous villians, from the darkest of magical birds that wouldn't stop farthing magical mists all over, to even a hidden ninja village, which I couldn't see coming until it was too late. Alas I didn't surrender, for I had a mission, a purpose, a goal.

The months passed, and not a single time I was blessed with the lucky day I would eventually meet my beloved in. I feared for the worst, I feared she'd never enter my field of sight ever again. Dungeons came and went, and the many halls and corridors seemed to have no end, each merging with the others inside my mind. Different sights and different walls, made from blocks, tinder, dirt or wood. Many of them different from each other, but all of them the same, none seemed to hold my obsession within. I despaired, feared I would fail, my conviction was crumbling.

"- Maybe I don't need a fifth party member." It was all over.

But then, just then, the unimaginable happened. The waist, the clothes, the melanin. Eureka! I had found her! I quickly rushed to her side and with a swift blow to the solar plexus delivered onto her all of my love. She knew it was fate, and soon after she was residing in my pocket, ready to become one with me, one of us.

I promptly invited her into my home, making sure to pass through one of my many ranches on the way to grab a couple of guests, invited them for a welcoming party in her honor hoping that one day they'd teach her the skills she'd need to be part of my posse. My party was full halfway there but it was fine, I'd just have to throw two parties, or even three, I'd spare no expense for her. Once inside, it's when *that* happened, however.

I opened her ball carriage to let her into my home, ready to surprise her with all of gifts that would soon be hers, but what came out of the sphere was something else, something different, something with it's own spheres.

"-That's a penis." I knew my character was to be tested once again. But I wouldn't quit, I had gone too far for too long to give up. I knew it was only a matter of time, I could have the undesired male just sleep in the ranch, eventually he'd bring my beloved to me.

Days turned to weeks, which turned to months. Seasons came and went without signs that my desire would ever be fulfilled. I figured there was something wrong with the bait I had set, never before had one of my ranches taken so long to give fruit. I feared the worst.

Hoping patience would be all that was necessary, I set out on yet another journey. Many more hardships were met, but eventually something that hadn't happened in years fell into my lap onces more. I knew it in my bones as soon as I woke. It was my lucky day.

I set out with renewed vigor, reading as many partchments as I could to get all sorts of new spells and materials. I set out to craft all sorts of wonders, magical swords that grew in power the more they were used, the confiest of undergarments that could drive a man insane, all in preparation to my future encounter. Excellent business opportunities more than tripled my coffers, and lastly but most important, I heard rumors of a mythical place under the sea legend has it the flow of time was different from ours. Surely this place was was I needed for my plan to bear fruit.

Maybe it was part of the surge of luck, but I actually managed to score an invitation to the mythical underwater palace from one of it's inhabitants. All they asked in return was that I entertained the princess with stories of my travels. Stories that I was more than happy to share.

I delved into the ocean, ready to share the tales of my fancies, but saddened that I knew they lacked a happy ending. However what I didn't expect was that I'd find just that in there, under the waves. Fate sure is a fickle mistress.

Ok, I'm tired of this. Basically the fucking dark elf was male so I set a ranch hoping to get a female one, though I know chances are 50/50 and what's worse the guy has a breeding power of 12. Anyway, while I was wasting time I got two lucky days in a row, made around 80 millions cash just crafting panties and lightsabers, but wasted most of it feeding presents to the princess because why not? What I didn't count on was that apparently her relationship status resets every time I left the place. Ended up wasting a lot of money and around half an ingame year just showering with presents unsuccessfully, but fuck it, I finally got her. I think it'd just be faster to find another dark elea on a dungeon that wait for that asshole to finally give birth to anything.

From what I've seen they don't keep their unique special actions or some of them get changed/nerfed hard making them useless. Unless you want to keep one around for rp reasons, they're pretty bad if you were looking for some strong pet to add to the party. The god penalty for recruiting destroys their attributes and skills leaving you with a very high INI pet with nothing remarkable about them. You can probably reset their INI so you can raise them like any decent vanilla pet though.

>>17355487
>>17359760
They're nice special actions when you get them early but they suffer the same fate shining wave has. Excellent damage early on but doesn't scale well enough in damage later on. Ordinary melee attacks, most spells, and ordinary range attacks end up doing more damage than them by a large margin later. Violent garden and the gravity special actions also start seeing problems against later story/dungeon bosses, scaled enemies such as the ones found in the void and awakened dungeons, and in the case of violent garden anyone that has good poison resist.

>>17358582

Don't expect it to get that high. My gardening is higher than 1,200 and learning is 1,333 and pic shows it used on normal enemies in a random dungeon. 30k is pretty bad when my other stuff is doing millions. Don't really need to be as powerful as me to eventually eclipse the damage you do with violent garden.

It happens much much sooner. If you level up your spells or if you're melee/range get additional attack chance and grind up your skills it will happen. So for me I questioned shining wave, violent garden, and the other special actions in why I was using stamina for those things when I can just kill them with other attacks. If violent garden is all you have though as you poured everything in it I'm sure you can do just fine with the story and regular dungeons but it's poor compared to everything else if you want to take on some of the NPCs in say Act 3, gods, and certain bosses.

Ok. I asked about this before but got no answer so I'll ask again.
Do the extra attack attributes cap?

I'm reading the formula on the wiki, and if that's true I should be doing a lot more hits that I actually am.

I am using a generic shotgun, I am wearing the griphon and the gemini on each melee slot and the arbalest. That should leave me on a total of 4600 extra ranged attack.

Following the formula , the first extra hit would be:

RNG (0-99) < RGN (0 - 4600/15*2+1) [so 0 - 614 for the second value]
Assuming a 99 on the first roll, that'd be around 5 in 6 chances to double attack, and that's assuming the first roll is alway 99 so the chance of a double should be much higher than that.
It certainly feels like it happens less than 83% of the times.

The tricky part comes from the third and 4th attacks. I won't paste the entire formula but assuming 99 again for the first roll it'd look like this:

218 < 614 third attack.
327 < 614 fourth attack.

The wiki actually says the third and forth attacks use the raw calculated attribute strenght and not a multiplication with a RNG value. Assuming this is correct that'd mean that with my current value a third and fourth attacks should be practically guaranteed. Since this is not the case, I can assume of the following:

1.- The formulas are wrong.
2.- The values don't stack.
3.- There's some sort of undocumented diminished return.
4.- Attributes from weapons placed on the melee slots have no bearing on the ranged attack attribute value.

Anybody here capable of clarifying this please?

99+ (23*1) = 122

The value is number of hands + 10. The wiki states that when you have 2 or less hands the nunber of hands value becomes 0 so it becomes 0 + 10.

The formula is RNG (0 - 99) + (Hands +10) x Numbers of previous attacks.

Assuming rng of 99 thats 99 + 10 * 2 forbthe third strikr. I added before multiplying to assume the larger number. If you multiply before doin the addition the numbef would be 119. But that only makes getting extra attacks easier.

Not sure if the extra attack enchant has a cap but there is a limit to the amount of attacks you can do depending on the weapon skill(s) you are using. Assuming not a mutant though. You can have 10,000 in extra melee attack but will only see 4 attacks with two hand but 8 with dual wield for instance. You can have like 4000 extra range attack but will only see 2 attacks assuming you don't use special ammo.

Okay, let me read it out and I'll just hope that I am explaining it right.

if ( rnd(100) + (handkazu + 1) * (handkazu + 10) * extraattack < rnd(cdata(88, cc) * 2 + 1) ) {
extraattack++
ele = 0
goto *act_attack
}

First, to make things easier, I'm going to call # of hands - 2 by the name "adjusted hands" because the line
if ( handkazu <= 2 ) {
handkazu = 0

I'm going to use * instead of x, because it will help yous ee what's going on in the code. * means multiplication of integers here.

means "if there are 2 or less hands, there are zero hands for the purposes of this calculation"

Let's break this down. Here's our if:

if ( rnd(100) + (handkazu + 1) * (handkazu + 10) * extraattack < rnd(cdata(88, cc) * 2 + 1) )

If (random number from 0 to 99)+( (adjusted hands +1) (adjusted hands + 10) * (how many extra attacks have happened so far)) < (calculated attribute strength x 2 + 1 )

Then we get our extra attack (extraattack++ means increment the value "extraattack" by 1).

Else, we continue on to doing the rest of the function.

So basically, we take random 0 to 99, then add this: (hands - 2 +1)x(hands -2 + 10)x(# of extra attacks so far), then compare to the calculated attribute strength x 2 + 1 .

So really you should be getting
(0 to 99) + (1 x 10 x 1 ) = 109 maximum for first extra attack,
(0 to 99) + (1 x 10 x 2 ) = 119 maximum for second,
and so on.

From what I am reading here, first it calculates the chance of the first extra attack, using two separate instances for ranged and melee, checking if user is classed as Gunner or Warrior.
Then there is a completely separate check right after, that only goes off if there's already been an extra attack. So essentially, it shouldn't matter how you get that first extra attack, the ones that follow work the same way. I guess that means it's best to find out which one gets the advantage on the first extra attack.

However, gunner/warrior both give the same bonus [ +5 on right hand side of inequality for first check; that is, "if ( rnd(100) < rnd(cdata(88, cc) * 2 + 1) + 5 ) " ] and they're both calculated using these two values rnd(cdata(88, cc) or rnd(cdata(89, cc), depending on range or melee. An informed guess tells me those are ranged and melee extra attack mods, as mentioned in the wiki.

Therefore, neither is better than the other, and extra hands are exponentially... worse, for both.

I think.

- Exact weight carried doesn't matter for spell chance, only which category you fall into (light, med, or heavy)

1. Correct.
2. Shields do have a penalty. There is also a penalty for dual-wielding.

The way casting penalties work is that they are applied after your spell cast rate but before the Warmage feat.
This means that you will never get better than an 80% cast rate for every spell while in heavy armor (85% for Warmages), even on the simplest spell.
The warmage feat is enough to completely negate the Shield penalty (which is 5%), but the other penalties can't be negated.

these numbers can't be right. I got 83% chance with your gear to get 2 Extra attacks, and even that seems high.

>> No.17364861

Like here, tell me if I'm crazy. Chance of first extra attack given not warrior or gunner should be (probability that first number is less than second number) times (probability that second number is between 0 and 99), which is (0.5 * 100/614 = 50/614). then we add to that the probability that the second number is >99 (instant success), which is 514/614, so 564/614 total. About 92%.

You can only get asecond extraattack if there's been a first, so here's the calc (I THINK) for a second extraattack:
Given your stats, ends up being (probability that first number is less than second number) times (probability that second number is between 10 and 109), which is (0.5 * 100/614 = 50/614). then we add to that the probability that the second number is >109 (instant success), which is 504/614, so 554/614 total.

That means probability for two extra attacks is (564/614)*(554/614) = about 83%.

cdata(88, cc) and cdata(89, cc) are the melee strength and ranged strength bonuses, respectively. This source is as long as the xbox is huge.

Aha, here we go:

if ( rp2 == 50 ) {
cdata(88, r1) += inv(40 + cnt * 2 + 1, rp) / 15
continue
}
if ( rp2 == 51 ) {
cdata(89, r1) += inv(40 + cnt * 2 + 1, rp) / 15

}

Okay so there's something being divided by 15, let's go for the full monty. It states a bit earlier than this that
rp2 = inv(40 + cnt * 2, rp)

Let me add that it went just as you guys said: Early on playing on inferno you will die and lose the character quickly and often, but when one of them gets past that phase and gets the ball rolling, chances of dying keep getting lower. By now it'd take something special like a oneshot (grass dancer could probably do the trick), a special ability/situation (ailment at a bad moment, getting cluster bomb rocked), or sheer stupidity on my part (starvation/crushed by backpack) to kill this one. Can't find any documentation for it, but I think I've caught on to the gist of it. Consider the following:

if ( eqtwohand ) {
if ( inv(7, ci) < 4000 ) {
if ( cnt < 14 ) {
inv(0, ci) = 0
continue
}
}
}
if ( eqtwowield ) {
if ( inv(7, ci) > 1500 ) {
if ( cnt < 14 ) {
inv(0, ci) = 0
continue
}
}
}

Now read this:

>. Wielding a normal weapon (1.5s to 4.0s) in your off hand gives a large penalty, but may be overcome by a high Dual wielding skill.

Somehow, inv(7, ci) means "weight of current weapon being operated on" Inv must be some special inventory data function from elona.dll .

Yeah I dunno for sure. I don't know precisely what inv(40 + cnt * 2 + 1, rp) means because I don't know what inv() does. I can't tell whether the first argument, that is, in inv( argument1, argument2), is the item slot, or all item slots, or something beyond imagining, or if the other is the item slot. For all I know, it's binary flags adjusted by 1, 32, and 8, to get 41. It probably isn't, but I just don't know. The definition of "rp2" was impossible to follow for me. As for "rp" I've seen this written in multiple places:
rp = cdata(cnt, r1) \ 10000 - 1.

What is rp, what is r1, and what is the exact function of cdata or inv?
No fuckin idea. I've seen cdata memcpy'd into userdata, so it's an information block of some kind.

Even though it says add 41, I can't prove for 100% what we're really adding 41 to. 40 + cnt*2 +1 could mean anything. It could be a pointer to a certain part of an array. Maybe rp is the value. I have less than half an idea.

They are indeed, but you seem to be looking at the wrong direction here.
>if ( rp2 == 50 ) {
>cdata(88, r1) += inv(40 + cnt * 2 + 1, rp) / 15
This is the game checking the inventory for items with "It increases the chance of extra melee attack" (id 50), then adding 1/15 of value of the enchantment to cdata(88, r1) (meaning if you have a sword with this enchantment of strength 300 and no other extra chances, it'll give you +20 to that cdata-88)

Then, if you're dual-wielding (this I'm not sure about), the chance is boosted by dual-wield skill:
>cdata(88, r1) += int(sqrt(sdata(166, r1))) * 3 / 2 + 1
where you'll get an additional (sqrt(dual-wield)*1.5) to cdata-88.

On an attack, you'll perform a check of this cdata-88 to hopefully get a second strike:

>if ( rnd(100) < rnd(cdata(88, cc) * 2 + 1) )

or, if you're a warrior:

>if ( rnd(100) < rnd(cdata(88, cc) * 2 + 1) + 5 )

As you can see, second strike is not guaranteed even at very high values. And after that, there are two additional checks:
1. whether amount of extra attacks is lesser than 3 (or in case of MA, 7), and
2. this:
>if ( rnd(100) + (handkazu + 1) * (handkazu + 10) * extraattack < rnd(cdata(88, cc) * 2 + 1) )
Where handkazu is indeed amount of hands, and is indeed penalizing you, as well as the extra attacks you've already amassed. I presume this was made to prevent mutants from easily getting all 4 hits on every hand.

Must be the case. How should we read inv(x,y) and cdata(x,y) , for future reference? I only know what these are referring to by using the wiki and guessing. That is, I was pretty sure what "inv(40 + cnt * 2 + 1, rp) / 15" does because the wiki said it, but inv(40 + cnt * 2 + 1, rp) means nothing to me. Hope that's ok to ask!

Thank you very much, by the way, this is a huge help. Now we know we're calculating things right, and we can do some prob/stat as before to nail down some breakpoints (though it seems pretty clear that >2 hands is always bad).

Work on getting potions of potential. Possibly by investing in magic vendors or creating them yourself through alchemy. Save your herbs for leveling the attributes instead of raising their potential.

Herbed in curaria only recovers like 1% potential to all attributes. Rare herbs restore potential to the attributes they specialize in and an almost barely noticeable amount to all others. Like the morgia eaten alone recovers like 40% potential to constitution and strength. Herbed in Morgia for example recovers 40% potential to strength and constitution and 1% to all other attributes. Blessed potions of potential recover 100% potential to all attributes except speed so you only need like 4 of those to cap potential.

<Harakiri>

Reusable unique artifact. Not a weapon.

Randomly generated, and has a rare-loot trigger dependent 1/30 chance of dropping from kamikaze samurai.

If used, you will commit seppuku, setting HP to 1/8 of the current value and causing bleed. All characters in sight (including unique NPCs) will then cease to be in combat mode. NPCs that were not originally hostile will no longer be hostile, and hostile NPCs will overlook you for 15-50 turns and will not have discovered you yet.

Duels will also end.

This means you can escape from combat, or heal up and stab characters in the back.

The disadvantages of using this are significant, but you can pair it with the Blood Stream attack below to deal a large amount of damage.

Be warned, however, that using the Harakiri again in sight of NPCs currently overlooking you (including pets) will proc kaisyaku, i.e. decapitation to help with the suicide.

>> No.17370591

I like how you think there's some specific function governing special action damage for all special actions. That would be the case if the original code was written with other developers in mind. For instance, here's the damage for the atomic launcher in E+Custom 1.69.3 :

dmg = 1000 + (sdata(176, 0) + 50) / 5 * limit(sdata(175, 0) + 50, 50, 1000) + sdata(189, 0) / 40 * sdata(189, 0) - prot * (prot / 20 + rnd(prot / 20 + 2))
if ( dmg < 1000 ) {
dmg = 1000
}
dmghp tc, dmg, cc

This is part of one big ol main loop function. I don't know why anyone would smart off and say oh I'm sure it's just 2-5 lines without actually reading the code.

>> No.17370619

Fair enough, wasn't trying to sound smug, my bad if it came out that way.
I just assumed it had a data area that stored the parameters (it does have this, from what I've seen), and one unified function for activating the skills.
It's probably possible to make a script that searches for all the special actions and adds the modifier for stamina, but yeah, it'd have to be maintained for every version, and would probably be hard to just integrate into custom.

>> No.17370651

>>17370619
It did, but probably only to me, so I'm sorry for countering with a lot of aggression. Full disclosure: Open your source.hsp file. Search "if ( _switch_val == 781 | _switch_sw ) {" or "shot the nuclear" to see what I mean. Many of the checks are (or appear to be) sort of jammed into a big main loop. "_switch_val" is engendered by this:

_switch_val = animeid
if ( 0 ) {
_switch_sw++
}

(Source: 1.69.3 custom) and if you read earlier for animeid it makes even less sense. Anyone who can parse this without studying it I fully believe is on another level, honestly.

It's really not unified. If anyone took 5 months to rewrite a somewhat recent version of E+ or custom to be categorized and to use actual well-named and documented functions, they'd be a hero on the level of Pheidippides.

No problem, I guess it did sound kinda smug, even if it wasn't intended.
I'm just somewhat used to dealing with shit code (it was kind of my job for a while), but Elona's codebase is way worse than what I had to deal with, now that I look at it.

Also, even if someone did rewrite it all it'd do is cause a split, or in the worst case just get ignored to death, since I doubt the dev team would use it.

More to the other point, why do we keep getting bad special actions? We have so many cool options that we're being inundated with, but they all scale very badly. The blood stream is a step in the right direction. Releasing Gem at the same time as a damaging special action that uses non-damaging stats (will, con) and giving it to a couple npcs that needed help, while using it as an excuse to add a RORAN BUFF NPC (excellent, super cool A+, bound in blood is great), all of this together is great. Not the other anon warning about the scaling of violent garden but I agree with what they're saying. Back in my day with my character Kai the OP move was shining wave and people used it to kill everything until new enemies started showing up in dungeons around Act 2 along with the new chaos fort bosses and quest bosses like the doggod. A lot of those guys ended up rerolling or quitting the game. Which is a shame because I really like reading about the adventures of other people and looking at other people's characters. I just hope violent garden isn't becoming the new shining wave meme.

Anyhow, I see a discussion similar to this happening which I don't want to see:
Anon1: I just reached Act 2 and I'm getting my ass handed to me what should I do?
Anon2: Have you tried getting AP and talking to Leold? He can increase your speed and make you stronger through bonus points, special actions, and special traits.
Anon1: Yeah but I don't have a lot of AP to spend on stuff. How do I get a lot of AP quickly?
Anon2: Monsters that scale such as the ones found in panic/challenge quests, deep enough in the void, or bosses in high level dungeons are good sources for AP.
Anon1: I've tried the void and doing higher level dungeons but I keep running out of stamina since the things showing up have a lot of HP and take awhile to kill with my violent garden.
Anon2: Don't use violent garden then. Have you leveled anything else up to use?
Anon1: Not really. I feel like everything is taking a very long time and I don't feel like I'm getting as strong as fast as I was in Act 1. Act 2 is pretty boring as I can't seem to do much in it.
Anon2: Well violent garden is strong in the beginning but you really should have been leveling something else as well so you can transition over to it once violent garden diminishes in use...

Probably just a tweak in the damage equation. I'm hoping that as the story progresses and new story related bosses and dungeons show up that special actions will be look at again and have their damage equations tweaked. Having said that, tweaking special actions swings both ways as it not only benefits the player but benefits enemies as well. The game can be a whole lot more dangerous if certain tweaks happened to it. One tweak that scares me is if the enemies started stacking additional attack chance stuff or unique to enemies that once their skill levels pass a certain threshold they multiple attacks in one turn.

For endgame Holy Veil discussion. Assuming PC got 2,5x magic power boost.
Enemies cap at 12k spellpower - casting*6
to safely overcome this at all times, you need 12*2,5 power of the holy veil. If i recall correctly HV has strength of spell level*10*(2/3), means its efectively capped vs non-magic equip enemies at 1800 spell level. Approximately.
