Red is better and more distinctive, but brown is very hot in her own way. I can see why Nasu wanted the change for a younger version.
This also makes me wonder about Mitsuishi Kotono as her VA, since Mahoyo was unvoiced. She's perfect for a more mature Aoko, but I'm not sure she has the range for the young version.

Sorry to bring this up. But there is an official reason why they look alike and it's got nothing to do with him being his "master". But rather that Cath Palug and Merlin are "similar" creatures in nature. Merlin's human appearance is entirely by his choice to approach humanity looking humanoid. When Merlin stresses he's not human, he isn't kidding.

There, that should work.
Cleaned up everything but the base game, removed the official release's EXE and DLLs, and did not include any alternative music. If you want any of that then get it normally.

Still don't have the Japanese version working with it. Though I did get the audio working by mounting the disc as CD-DA with virtual clone drive and picking its drive letter in the program.
And by golly the stupid thing is using 23% of my 3570k CPU, in mostly interrupts.
There's also no Ctrl to skip. Actually have to click a button on the window. And transitions look like they're single digit framerates.

I'm halfway through Heaven's Feel, and I want to know why Nasu so failed so hard when it came to Sakura?

She's supposed to be the childhood friend, but she barely has presence until her route, where said nature is quickly shed for something else. She's the kohai to Shirou's senpai, but that barely comes up other than her just calling Shirou senpai and Shirou repeatedly stating that she's his friend's sister. Not even getting into her startling lack of personality and passiveness. She literally only lashes out or speaks up for herself when the scene needs her to, and while you may say that's realistic for an abuse victim, it's not good character-wise.

Literally the only thing he got right was her lashing out like a school shooter due to her abuse.

She could have been so good. So what happened? Like of time? Lack of care?

as someone who learned Japanese specifically because of Nasu's work, despite what some think, powerlevels are utterly bullshit in the Nasuverse. His setting is (or was) really cool, in-depth, and he clearly does IRL research on occultism to conjure up his remarkably neat magic system that surpasses Higashide's chuuni bullshitting and arrives at full blown schizoid personality disorder levels of internal detail and consistency, but trust me, the powerlevels are totally bullshit.

That the powerlevels are utterly bullshit should become monumentally clear to you the moment you see how fucked his more recent works, from CCC to F/GO, are with regards to their powercreep. For example, everything having to do with BB's Alter Egos or the nature of Gil's armory basically getting retconned to be even more retardedly overpowered in CCC, or so many fucking Heroic Spirits getting EX Ranked something in GO. Look at fucking Rhongomyniad suddenly becoming a linchpin of the fucking world in Garden of Avalon and onward. Look at Mahoyo, even, where Touko's and Aoko's capabilities are not even consistent with their past appearances so that their stupid cunt powerlevels can be wanked harder.

And then you have Higashide with Fate/Apocrypha: even if this work was able to adhere to the setting in broad strokes, its overall feeling is retarded (Astolfo crying because he can't remember his NP? Are you fucking with me?) and approach to the setting's cosmology is often arbitrary and lacking in depth compared to the original works. Sakamoto with the Case Files does better, but is still at variance with the feel of the original works because by the time he started writing, Nasu had already long stopped giving a fuck about the internal consistency of the setting and decided he could just go "WHOOPS ALTERNATE REALITY" whenever the fuck he wanted.

Nasu stopped giving a fuck a long time ago, so why care about his previously good work, tarnished as it is?
