I was surprised to hear she was in Gundam Build Divers this week, and it looks like she's being set up as the Big Bad (shocker) for the next half of the series (I don't watch it so I dunno how long these type of shows go for, if the Kanae Itoufag is here lemme know). But, apart from that, and apart from Toji no Miko, and Fairy Tail in October, majority of her roles have been one-off characters.

I'd like for a main role, or at the very least a major supporting role again. It's been 2 years since her last one. I was actually disappointed I didn't hear her at all during Spring and nothing for Summer. Hopefully Fall delivers with something. She hasn't been very active on Twitter for 3 weeks so I take that as a good sign.

They started loosening up again and you get a few Seiyu threads on /a/ in the past months.

Now they've come up with a new policy which is just to move them to /jp/. I don't know how long they'll keep this up though since they'll always be a newfag who makes another seiyu thread.

I do too. Harukana Receive is gonna be an anime that most Japanese people may tune in for due to it being a Kirara and a sports series. Plus, she is actually a main character this time. I think.

You're doing this based on anime shows per season right? Not all of Kanae Itou's roles are in the wiki, and a lot of the times you want to consider stuff like what is a main role or not. As well, does this really define how successful they are? What about stuff like video games, mobile games, movies, OVAs, commercials, albums, etc.

I respect the effort in putting this out, and I find it interesting that you chose to do Kanae Itou first, but I don't think this is an accurate depiction on how successful one's career is.

The methodology for te first graph is: I went to the Japanese wiki, counted the number of TV series under each year(series, not roles) and made an initial count, then I checked if there were series with multiple seasons or that ran through multiple year and made a corrected count.
For the Main characters, I just counted the names in bold type for an initial count and then corrected the count for the multiple years' shows.
For the rest of the graphs I just did a script to count of TV anime per year and the characters in bold type, so it's less accurate. I also included variables about age and if the seiyuu is a singer or not, but hat's for the actual analysis.

Survival Analysis aims to predict when a certain event will happen, in this case, retirement, not "success".
Just look at the Sakamoto Maaya's graph: It's somewhat mediocre, but she's still a legend, probably due to her music career.

Anyways, I started with Kanae Itou to somewhat bully the itoufag. Her career distribution is just a boring negative binomial anyways, with a low start, a big boom, and then a more or less steady decline. She'll probably still be around for at least 3 years.

I forgot to comment on this part. Kanae Itou isn't against fan interaction, hell she spent most of last year traveling to meet fans, but I don't think she ever wants to do gravure. She's too innocent to probably ever do that. Lack of a Twitter is something I always wonder about, but she does have a public blog. Maybe she can't handle being harassed. I'm not going to translate all of it but the OP is pretty interesting; a Newtype article interviewing Kotono Mitsuishi for saying how nowadays seiyuu are being selected by their photo rather than their voice, and how the production committee is saying "this seiyuu has no twitter, so they're out" despite the director saying "this actor/actress is good so let's call em over". The article also goes onto claim that while it may be a good thing that new seiyuu can live off of just being a seiyuu, what with all these other events and app games being voiced, except that there's no longer the hardship that drives the classic "seiyuu working multiple job" motivation to get better at their work. Another one of the points from the article is that seiyuu should be finding things to take inspiration from and focus on the job of voice acting, and should be trying to learn not just while on the job.

Other neat posts are about how having a pic attached to your resume is obvious (in Japan) and people replying how that's only the case in Japan, how Japan's a backwards country, it's dumb to compare this to regular society, etc.

Some guy commented that Kotono Mitsuishi doesn't do roles on par with main characters, and proceeds to get the most replies.

Another post talked about Megumi Hayashibara getting loads of main character roles, although there's talk of she getting popular due to her singing (despite acknowledging that her singing isn't the best).

There's a smartass comment pointing out how Shinji-kun (Ogata) got flamed on Twitter (for making right wing comments, I guess).

Someone mentioned Ayaneru and Oonishi get roles despite not having Twitter (I suspect they're a minority though).

Not really. Hiyocchi was number one last year wasn't she? Aoi Yuuki didn't have one forever, Hayamin only got one for music shilling a few months ago, Kayanon doesn't, Tane-chan doesn't, Ten-chan doesn't, Tomato doesn't, and Sawashiro doesn't, Some that don't have blogs.

That's only a consideration for mega poverty shit that needs to leverage seiyuu's followers for PR. In any event that largely goes over the head of the seiyuu themselves and is an agency issue over what kind of promotional activities they want/allow their talent to engage in.

There was some miscommunication at an event about whether or not photography was allowed. The event people told the audience that photography was allowed, but the voice actresses (Uchida Maaya, Uchida Aya, Ayaneru) weren't informed.
