hello people of /fumo/, I come to bring reports of a customization in progress. I've got a bootleg Remilia, acquired years ago before I even really knew what a fumo was, and rather than leave her to collect dust in a dark corner of shame I'm turning her into a Yuuka. So far I've got the materials - I couldn't find a red plaid in the right size, but there was a really nice floral-pattern light aqua fabric, so I'm doing a flowery kimono - and I've started in on preliminary patterning.

Mostly, I've determined that it’ll work best to do the kimono as a separate bodice and skirt, cause i wanna make it more figure-hugging than Yuyuko's big flowy kimono, and that means I’ll need to do darts to get around the dread fumobutt. A waist seam will let me hide those better, and it'll get hidden under the sash in the end. (Plus, as I discovered by studying my Yuyuko, this is how Gift did a kimono, so there is official merit to the method.)

not only is she low, but she has never been above the 40's, and every year since her debut she has dropped in place, except for this year wherein she stayed in 77th, even though yuugi is my favorite, i wish she was higher up

of course, both were made from a flan, the one on the right was the first one i made, and was my first foray into anything regarding crafts, in that i had to teach myself how to sew to make it, the hair is the flan hair with the side hair piece removed and a little added on. the right is my second foray into anything regarding crafts, this time i knew how to actually make shirts and skirts, and other than that, i did over the hair wholesale. they arent that good quality wise, but i love them, and theyre the best i can get for yuugi fumos or yuugi merch in general outside of keychains for that matter

I've used both wool and embroidery yarn (the kind that you can break into smaller strands very easily) for knockoff fumo faces. I think wool looks and feels better, but embroidery yarn is easier to use.

You need to make small, overlapping stitches. The stitch comes out at A and disappears at C, then behind the fabric goes to B and comes out through the previous visible loop, and then disappears at D, and so on. This makes the line have a constant width and helps a bit with the curvature. Make sure to keep twisting the yarn along its original twist, so it doesn't open up and look bad.

I usually pencil the curve on the inside, but since you probably don't want to take her apart for the sewing, you could try to mark the curvature with pins. Since you don't want knots on her cheeks, bring the ends somewhere under her hair and make a few small, tight loops to finish. This also allows you to easily remove the new smile if you're not happy with the result.

Well for the clothing I would recommend knitted fabric, the hair would be minky, the bowl and chains that I used I found on etsy, and I can provide links to those if you want... the horn I made out of felt and stuffed it with wool, you could use any kind of rigid fabric for the horn, like felt if you dont like it. as for the tools you'd need, you really need fabric scissors, needles of varying sizes, thread, measuring tape, and fabric glue. do note, that I only used fabric glue for attaching the horn to the head, everything else was hand stitched together, and hand stitched on (the horn was stitched together as well, just glued on)

I recently bought a Tenko and original Marisa from yahoo auctions using buyee, the Tenko has appeared at their warehouse but the Marisa is nowhere to be found after just over a week.

the ones one ebay are bootlegs, with only 2 of them (flan and remi) actually having legitimate counterparts. the term you would need to search up is "deka fumo", in total, there are 5, reimu marisa remi flan and cirno, reimu is the most common, and flan is the rarest. dekas will run anywhere from 500-1500 usd. depending on the deka in question, and the condition.
i would suggest NOT to buy the bootleg deka fumos on ebay, as they are of a very low quality, with low quality materials, and are incredibly understuffed. there is however a legitimate deka reimu on ebay, however it is 1000usd, which is a ridiculous price to pay, especially considering its condition

people like yumemey, kime, and basically anyone i can think of who actively makes custom fumos, does so by removing the clothing and sometimes the hair, of a preexisting fumo, then they make new clothes/hair, and use fabric paint for the eyes if necessary
