Ranking system on Nico Nico changed

Ranking is now organized by a predefined set of genres and some of the older categories (Touhou, Idolmaster...) don't exist anymore. Instead, when going to Nico Nico's ranking chart page, you select a genre, then your tag of choice.

The problem with Touhou is that videos are now disseminated and randomly split into "Animation", "Game" and "Entertainment" genres which makes them harder to classify when observing rankings.

Also, how do you check daily ranking evolution graph of Touhou videos now?

Taking this one ( https://www.nicovideo.jp/ranking_graph/fav/daily/game/sm29631571 ) as an example, it's now tied with the "game" genre and you can't finetune more. It's "game" or nothing for this one. And going there don't yield anything anymore: https://www.nicovideo.jp/ranking_graph/fav/daily/toho/sm29631571?watch_ranking

In my opinion (and that is only my opinion, which is apparently rubbish, as always), I don't think that the loss of the Touhou category is a good thing. There were weekly Touhou ranking videos. How are they going to be made now?

Unless I missed something and you can actually see ranking for a "Touhou" category and I was just too dumb to find it (or didn't look hard enough due to my legendary laziness). Also, I have no idea if this is discussed elsewhere (on 2ch for example) and I have no idea of how Japs reacted to this.

I found part of my answer on Nico Nico's ranking chart page. There are 5 custom slots where you can select to rank either by genre or tag. You can customize those slots to classify for whatever genre or tag you want. In the included example, I created 5 custom ranking slots with 5 different tags that talk better to me.

The ranking page part is solved but not the daily graphs per video part yet. The daily graphs don't give much finetuning features. For some reason, http://now.nicochart.jp/today/toho still works but returns different results than Nico NIco's own ranking page, if selecting the "game" genre then "touhou" tag: https://www.nicovideo.jp/ranking/genre/game?tag=%E6%9D%B1%E6%96%B9 (both pages return the last 24 hours results by default)

You can see the Bad Apple video is on top on the third-party now.nicochart.jp page but not on Nico's own ranking page.

By the way (unrelated), the normal part of www.nicochart.jp is blocked outside Japan, so you have to use a proxy or a VPN to browse it. Only the now.nicochart.jp part is visible outside Japan.

The 東方 tag seems to be split between the "entertainment" (エンターテイメント) and "game" (ゲーム) category and the old ranking system doesn't seem to match any of these. Not that it's particularly disturbing, but it makes a strict 東方 ranking a bit harder than usual, unless using third-party websites. I bet other older categories such as Idolmaster or Vocaloid met the same fate.

As I'm a sucker for third-party websites that extend Nico Nico's own features, does anyone know some good ones with advanced sorting for ranking with possibility of comparisons and making graphs? I'm aware I might be asking a little too much.

How viable alternative it's? Seems like it's 99% unsearchable without japanese skills.
Haven't seen a step into making it international so far, to compete directly with Youtube, someone wake them up.

Only one of them is Touhou. Here are the tags I've used in that example:

けものフレンズ
アイドルマスター
VOCALOID
艦これ
東方

But you can use anything you want in fact. If you want to use アリス・マーガトロイド, 東方MMD, MikuMikuDance,
東方手書き劇場, 初音ミク, クッキー or whatever you want, you can. You won't get advanced functionallity like evolution over time but you'll be at least be able to compare trends between categories of your choice this way.
