Honestly, the first game that truly matters is PCB. LLS, MS and EoSD are all good games however, and should be played. LLS is the easiest of the bunch with minimal gimmicks and simple mechanics so it's a great starting point to get into the games. God help the people who decided to pick up UFO as their first game.

Not OP and I've been into Touhou at least on some level for a long time, but when I was just playing more of the PC-98 games than I had previously I realized I feel a lot better at LLS than EoSD or PCB, so I've now been practicing at it instead of either of those. I'm still complete dogshit at STGs though so it will probably still be a while till I get my first 1cc. Fuck Reimu.

>> No.21600458

>>21600432
LLS gives out a ton of resources without you even having to work for them. Since extends are awarded on points, they tend to naturally accumulate no matter what the style of your play is (unless you're purposefully trying to score as little as possible). EoSD hands out a lot less for you to work with, so it's naturally harder in that regard, even if extends are given out the same way as in LLS. In MS extends are awarded for collecting point items like in PCB, so you'll actually have to work for them. To reach similar numbers of extends in MS as in a typical LLS run, you actually have to be good in the game (and likely have to play as Mima or Marisa to have the movement speed to actually reach a considerably large chunk of them that Reimu and Yuuka just plain can't). Add this to the fact that LLS is an easier game in general, and it becomes the ideal starting point for getting a relatively fast first 1cc normal. So keep at it and try your best anon!

I think the issue is that stage 4 is much more difficult compared to 3 and earlier, by this I mean the sudden difficulty rise. I can never get to stage 5 even on easy and multiple continues, I desperately want to get into 2hu but it's very difficult if you've never played STGs. Even if I go through first 3 with no continuing I get pathetically raped before even reaching Patchy fight so I guess that's why it's so infamous, the sudden difference.

I'm not sure this is a good idea, but it probably doesn't matter much: Marisa A&B and Reimu B are all pretty similar, but Master Spark (Marisa B) really helps with the Normal 1CC. Homing (Reimu A) might help them while learning the stages, but it is easier to simply kill things faster once they've memorized where things spawn, which is what I would recommend for Stage 4.
