They are supposed to be written phonetically but apparently the readings are very uncommon because I've never seen these kanji be read like this before. On the other hand, remembering how to read 露西亜 or 亜米利加 was easy, you can clearly see why they are written like this.

I feel like I need to change my voice to properly vocalize Japanese. The way I speak now is based on not fucking breathing on people, but it often cuts certain letter's pronunciations in half or even leaves out entire syllables that would otherwise be understood in English. This as I've seen so far won't fly in nip so I feel I need to change the entire way I speak.
Has anyone else experienced this and should I go higher or lower with my tone of voice?

also, language learning isn't hard, but it does take lots of time. nobody's expecting you to understand anything but children's books or yotuba-level manga by the 2 weeks mark. after spending at least 20 hours reading your first eroge, you'll kinda get the hang of it, and after 100 hours, you'll probably have enough confidence to only look up 1 or 2 words per sentence in easy lns or eroge.
there's no rush or magic trick. it's just a matter of putting lots of minutes into practicing reading and listening to stuff that isn't too difficult for you, but that is also fun for you to spend your time on.

If your able to meditate in stage 7 in the mind illuminated you would be able to learn japanese in 12 months easily, rtk 1 and 3 would be done easily in a month and the other 11 months would just be reading and listening. I see vocab split into 3 categories: super important, kinda useful to know, not even worth. So "super important" consists of about 1000, if I'm being super generous, 2000 words that you should know. So you could SRS them, but if you are serious about learning a language there is no way you will not see those words even for more than a week naturally, in your textbooks, teaching videos, any article, story etc you'd try to read so putting them into SRS is obsolete. The other side of the coin "not even worth" consists of tens of thousands of words, proverbs and expressions that you'd see once a year if you are lucky and it shoudnt even be a discussion if you should SRS that. First, I believe that amongst those tens of thousands of words not a sigle word in that group is more important to know than another one and until you know most of them you'll feel like you know nothing anyway(hence intermediate plateau). So once I assumed this, SRS of concrete words kind of lost it's value. Say I read a book and see a word I saw a month ago and I forgot what it means, if I add that sentence to SRS, now seconds I spend reading that sentence during reviews could be spent continuing reading a book and SRSing other words naturally that are just as valuable to know in the greater scheme. As a result, if you don't add that concrete word to SRS you have more chance of forgetting it again but at the same time you gave yourself more opportunities to remember new words. Namely, opportunity cost.

Intervals isn't the main thing that makes us remember information or keep it in memory. Among the words you come across while you are reading/watching Japanese will be words that you'll see once/twice and remember for a year and there will be words that you will forget in a minute. In my experience there are multiple factors that are way more important for remembering words than frequency. Clarity of the concept(comprehensible input?), ability to associate words with something you know, impactful context(both situations in stories that are so powerful you'll remember them for years and contexts in which words are so clear that word just clicks by itself) and other hidden factors that I wish were the topic of discussions when it comes to learning vocab instead of just parroting SRS intervals because science.

So saying all that, if you commit yourself to artificial SRS, you have no choice but to treat all words as if it would take equal effort to remember and keep it there, when it's not the case.

i think the worst thing about all this is there is no class, no depth, no intellect behind how the conflicts get resolved
for example ゆの and ゆき get their 携帯s stolen and practically already lost at that point but okay we'll assume the bad guys got some more use for them and keep them alive for the time being so what is the 作戦 they came up with about how to get their 携帯s back without dying? they going to trick the villains in some way, planning a step ahead of them, exchanging the phones without them noticing or anything that would make a satisfying escape out of this 窮地?
nope they get called by the bad guys to come somewhere, ゆの just takes her knife jumps at the bad guys and gets their 携帯s back no problem

himawari real spoilers don't like don't look:

that chapter ended up being a LOT better than i thought it would. even the finale which was admittedly kinda cheesy was executed really well, and touka's scene where she finally made and explained her decision was great. i also REALLY respect the writers for not turning around and blatantly pointing out hey mom's throwing a big fit just to make sure touka doesn't feel bad about leaving and instead just had that be her natural reaction to the situation, which shows a lot of respect for the reader. i do appreciate that even in the event that things end up okay like this we still have a quick epilogue with 法月 to make sure that things aren't gonna be so easy and even put kind of a fucked up spin on things, while also doing enough worldbuilding to make a plot point from earlier that was WAY too convenient fit in better with the story and even make it more creepy. man im sure glad i got into visual games a bit.
