Aspiring custom anon from the other thread here. Thanks to the guys who linked me to Zerokonbu's videos, they're very interesting but what I'm really looking into is how to make plushies *from scratch*.

My mom is crazy good with all sorts of crafts and a cousin of hers is also very experienced at making ragdolls, so I'm looking to buy a fumo that won't blow up my wallet (I'm Brazilian, my money is worth shit) so we can analyze how it's made and try to replicate it.

Pattern making is a little tedious and a trial and error sort of thing if you wanted to make it from scratch. It also takes skill to identify parts of a pattern and how things sew together.
The way I did mine is I put masking tape over parts of a gift plushie I already had and made a pattern from that. Even then I'm still perfecting the pattern. Pic related Yuka's original leg was too skinny and the newer one on the left is much bigger and more comparable to an actual fumo.
Keep in mind that materials do add up as well -- fabric (ex.1yd of minky for me is $14), stuffing, etc. -- so being able to snag an actual fumo during release would be 3,500 JPY without fee and taxes compared to scalper aftermarket prices.
Some tips though that I learned during my process: Keep your seam allowance small (I needed to use 1/8 in), stuff the plushie in small portions to keep the fluffing even, and mockup patterns are inevitable so make sure to use scrap fabric and not your final fabric or it might all go to waste!
It's nice to make your own soft though~ There really is a lot of love and passion going into it if you do decide to make one!

I got her for ¥3000 + shipping from Yahoo Auctions JP. In my case, the customs duty fees were about 20€ extra on top of that so it wasn't anything unreasonable. I don't know how this applies to EU in general though, from my understanding the brits at least tend to have their fees pretty high.

how did you decide which fumo to purchase first? I've wanted one for who knows how long, but much like the character tier lists, it feels like I'm picking a favorite and I love so many of them. I rationalize it by telling myself they just haven't made one for my favorites yet, but even saying that I'm not sure who it would be.

If you're using them as a proxy and not a forwarder, you just tell them :I want you to buy this fumo from Gift for me" when preorders start and pay half up front and then they'll buy it for you and charge you the other half / shipping when it shows up at their warehouse.

Thanks a lot for the responses! I'll probably use white rabbit express then (as I already have an account there) or maybe from japan if it's really cheaper.

Also I've linked the Yuuka product page to ZenMarket just to see what they'll say about it. The preorder start date is clearly visible on it so I hope they will understand what to do with it. If I get a positive response I'll think of using them instead of the other two since I've already used their service several times (and they're pretty cheap).

the reason why forwarders require id, is because of japanese law requiring individuals with addresses to basically prove their identity and prove they arent a criminal, thats the long and short anyway
PROXIES though, require no such thing, they just require an address to send stuff to and money to do it with.
the problem with buying japanese goods outside of japan comes in the form of whether or not its even worth it, as a 10 dollar dvd, after commission, and international shipping, will set you back anywhere from 25-35 dollars all said and done.
Ive never bought porn, let alone bought it from a proxy or rather with a proxy, so i would if i were you, go around different proxies such as neokyo, dejapan, fromjapan, whiterabbitexpress and the like, and ask if they deal with pornographic material, if they do, thats an option.
again, the problem comes from the fact, that unless you have someone in japan, or going to japan, who does not care about shipping costs, youre going to end up paying at least double the price of the dvd solely through shipping (moreso if you have import duties like in basically every EU nation)
the easiest way to go about this, would be to pirate it, i know you arent getting a physical good, but utilizing a proxy and/or importing something to a region wherein import taxes are high, makes the whole thing arguably not worth it, at least in my eyes for a 10 dollar good
also, why the fuck are you asking in the fumo thread about where you can buy porn? you know we have JAV threads wherein you can ask this stuff, right?
