When doing Anki exercises and I end up not immediately recognizing the meaning/pronunciation of a Kanji I find myself reading the example sentence and remembering based on the sentence. This is kinda subconsciously done and I feel like I'm really hurting my learning by becoming dependent on the sentence. So how much am I really hurting myself and how could I possibly get around this?

Why didn't the "demon slayers" just cast themselves out of the dullest shounens in the history of anime? Seriously each episode following the boy slayer and his pals from Demon Slayer Corp as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. incomprehensible input probably does help with this shit but the diminishing returns seem to me to likely be quite steep. doubt its all that useful once you're a 6 months or so into the language. personally there is too much other shit i want to consume other than japanese stuff (podcasts, movies, audio books, music) so i'm not willing to give up all that anyways.

There are words with meanings you can't immediately guess from kanji. On top of that, rare kanji used in 2 or 3 words, plus rendaku not being an exact science, meaning there are words with readings that aren't immediately obvious. So, you need to learn those. And you're not going to do it through reading because if you're still at the stage where you can encounter the same unknown word often, you're a shitter

Spaced repetition lets you remember one word for under a minute of review time. You'd have to be retarded to not take advantage of that method.

I do but isolated vocab decks were never meant to be sentence decks so the way they are ordered doesn't show you what it assumes are i+1 sentences as it progresses, so i would probably have to change sentences too, then also separate the translation on the back from the sentence on the back and so on and it just seems like that would take weeks of work.
