Speaking as just one datapoint of someone who used to write a lot of greentexts and participate in a lot of discussion with them, it was absolutely the way people behaved like petulant children the second even a misinterpreted hint of something came up that they didn't personally like. That trend applies to every monster girl community as a whole, it's not just the big bad /jp/ threads losing writers. EMG attracted people to monster girls, they've seen grown out of it, moved on to writing other things or stopped writing entirely. Over the years nothing has managed to capture the lightning in the bottle the same way that manga did and as much as some of us hate to admit it, MGE alone can't attract the same sized audience a more mainstream title can.

Until something else comes along to relight the spark it's just going to be those of us in the small MGE fan base to keep doing our thing.

For a very long period of time it did feel discouraging to want to try and get new green discussions started, as people would just get angry or wouldn't really try to build off of them, even if I put a lot of effort into trying to go off of any old response that was thrown my way. My current story was actually inspired by a cosplay photoshoot even though my final idea has nothing to do with the character being portrayed. I even tweaked a picture to better fit the sort of girl I wanted to write about (Just color replacements so it was easy)

Practice, practice. practice. I set aside 16 hours a week to write. Sometimes I don't get a lot written and sometimes I do. If you can't write then brainstorm, if you can't brainstorm then look at your past work (a very, very hard thing to do) and see what you like and what you hate for reference.

I find the best ideas come when you're ingesting other materials or thinking of something else. Keep a journal or make a note whenever an idea strikes you as they come and go as they please, usually when you're distracted. Sometimes they even come when you're writing about something else! Also shamelessly steal ideas from others and change/improve them in a way that makes it fun for you to write.

I have no confidence in what I do because I know my writing is shit. But I've built a base of readers who have helped me improve and do better. I don't write for myself as much as I do for them. Though I always pick material I enjoy and want them to enjoy in return. Just keep writing and don't give up. Eventually you'll write something you can be proud of or at least not ashamed of.

Honestly, if you can get proper criticism at all go for it. The person giving it might not give 2 shits about MG's or romance or comedy but if they know writing and feel like giving criticism on something like pacing or word usage then see what they have to say. Listening to the intended audience is also important as it tells you what they want but when it comes to improving your actual writing it might not be the best as their objective isn't your actual writing as but what you're writing about.
That's not to say you should ignore one of these groups because they're giving you information not relative to that group but it's a good rule of thumb that writing advice from a writer is probably going to carry more weight than from someone who's main objective is more cheshire smut. Unless that cheshire lover has some legitimate points.
We all hit mental blocks from time to time. It's best to shelve it till something gives as forcing it usually means an inferior turnout or burning out entirely on it or worse becoming put off by it entirely.
What breaks that block is different for everyone and sometimes all you can do is wait. Common solutions are drinking, just doing whatever you like for a bit and letting your mind wander, consume other writing maybe it'll jumpstart shit, going on to other projects for now. You'll, hopefully, find something that works for you eventually.
I find just doing what I can to let my mind just kind of float wherever or talk about something interesting with people usually sparks something up in me. That might not be a spark related to what I'm currently working on but it gets me going again which is important.
Stalling on writing at all is generally bad as getting started back up again is usually hard for anyone but taking minor breaks here and there is healthy.
Tl;dr find what works for you when it comes to a healthy writing schedule. Everyone's different on this.

I do rewrites all the time. If the edits are extensive enough I'll generally deem a rewrite would be better and do so.
I usually write and rewrite something 5 times before showing anyone anything then do it a few more because I get anxiety when it comes to my writing and that helps ease it enough to publicly air it.
When it comes to forcing it I find that it just puts me off writing as I turn out garbage, or what I can't help but feel is garbage, which just keys up my anxiety which just kind of leads to a loop.
If I just ignore it and let my mind unwind and wander doing whatever else for a bit I find that something comes along that makes me want to write again fairly soon even if it's not related to what I got blocked on in the first place.
