Hey /jp/!

Sorry if I'm bothering you by asking, but I have some questions and if you could answer them it would help me a lot so please forgive me ;_;

Do the Japanese have weddings or is it just something that you see in anime? If they do, did they have them before they met the first westerners or did they have their own versions? Are they big with lots of flowers and people and stuff? Is it a religious thing with Shinto involved?

Many ppl these days have 2 weddings. A Shinto style wedding and a western wedding in a church or with a minister. Which is stupid as they aren't Christian and many English teachers take the work. The girls mostly dream about the white wedding dress in the church and the parents usually want the Shinto style one. I've been to a few weddings here and people generally get pretty wasted.

Well Femanon of /jp/-san, they have both types of weddings. It all depends of the preferences of the couple. But most Japanese weddings are pretty modern and western in style these days in Japan.

According to one story in this book, the Japanese do sometimes like to have western style weddings, but they don't attach any significance to the Christian symbolism and whatnot.

Personally, I think prawn is better. Allows for more variation of sauces to serve it with, and the meat's taste is leagues beyond shrimp.
Lobster is fine and all, but a bit overrated for its image of being a high end dish, which ends in people paying for an overpriced meal. Still tasty though.

Actually, Japanese women don't have weddings unless several conditions are met, according to several studies:

1. the male is assertive. (something like 87% of japanese women believe japanese men are spineless, unassertive, and weak-willed, or otherwise dependent on others)
2. The person is not an otaku of any type, though it's said that film otakus might be acceptable (0.6% say this) because they could go to the movies with them.
3. The guy in question makes more than 100,000 USD a year.
4. They themselves (the woman) do not have to work. (Most japanese women are raised with the expectation that they will never have to work a day in their lives.)
