the whole story is actually really dumb its prob gonna sound like lies but this is all true.
i was staying at this share house and stole a bike while drunk that was abandoned near it but had actually been stolen and left there a while before, and i got caught by the cops riding it drunk within 10 secs of stealing it at like 2am
so at first i lied to them and said the guy who lives in my sharehouse let me borrow it so they drove me all the way from the station to the house and this guys like no i barely even know this guy and i don't have a bike (i just moved in like a week ago and only saw him once) so they take me back to the station then i changed my story saying it wasn't him it was this other guy who lives there but i realised i was in shit now so i pretended not to remember my address and none of the cops took a note of it even though we drove there like 2 hrs before lmfao, so they got out a physical map and tried to figure it out and eventually they did and when they got there i just lied and said it wasn't my house (even tho they had been there 3 hrs ago), they got super pissed at me and tried knocking on the door and this super fat russian guy who was staying there backed me up and said he didn't recognise me at all and that i don't live there lmfao but they made me get my key out and he tried it in the door and it worked so i got foiled
so we went back to the station and basically i think they realised i was just going to keep fucking them around and i was starting to sober up at this point so eventually they decided to just let me go since they had all my details/passport/address and took me back to the place i was staying. here's the worst part, as i was walking out with the cop who was gonna drive me home who was like the first guy who picked me up, they had a huge rack of police bikes and i said to him as a joke yo 貸してくれない? and he gave me the biggest fuzakennayo ive heard in my life but he was laughing for sure
anyway s week later they came to my house and picked me up and made me fill in a 微罪処分 cuz they realised it wasn't possible for me to be the original bike thief the end

Started out learning Japanese using only memrise since it was suggested to me, but only started like two months ago. The only things that we really helped me were
- make a youtube account just for japanese
- put phone language in japanese (this will eventually give you ads in japanese and all you apps will be in Japanese)
- start watching doramas, i found them easier than anime, people speak more clearly and less anime-like, there are some doramas like ゆるキャン which mantiains a lot of the over the top expressions if that's what you are into.
- a friend on mine made a program that searches for a word (or many) in all of my subtitles and shows me which show uses them and when, so for example 社長 would be shown in agretsukko.
My main recommendation is to find stuff that is both entertaining and within your level.
