Games that teach you Japanese

Were any of those Japanese learning games on DS actually good for learning Japanese? I know just about all of them are intended to be supplemental to a more serious course or something, but I'd like something to ease me into learning because it seems very intimidating. Also it'd be really nice to be able to play it in bed.
Also, if you know of any good games for this on Switch, please mention them as I have that too. I don't have a smartphone.

Just curious OP... Why would you want to learn the language of a conquered people/nation that is in decline? I can only imagine historical scholars would have any use for it. I mean, there are better things to learn for the amount of time you need to invest.

Actual OP here, and it's because it'd be nice not to have to rely on translations for everything all the time. I don't expect or want to become fluent, but I'd like to at least be able to understand cursory things, as a lot of my interests involve anime and video games.

Learn kana, basic grammar, and some kanji and start reading your porn VNs. The more you read, the easier it gets
