So, I finally got around to reading Lanternon's paladin story. "Finally" here means I could read it live as it was being updated right from the start, which was almost exactly 6 years ago as Pastebin tells (goddamn time flies). Back then it was only a few chapters for me before dropping though.

It's as talented and in all respects impressive as I remember. I'm reinforced in my old belief that the guy has got to be some kind of an established writer, or at least on the high end of the amateurish crowd (dunno if this has been established). Hands down the best one I've read here, even if it's some meager 15% of all writefaggotry at most so far (not to belittle anyone else's level).
I've even caught myself wanting to clip some nifty quotes for keeping on a few occasions; that's not the case for many full-fledged books I read.

My initial distaste for the story was due to it seemingly setting itself on a certain course that it was (once again, seemingly) going to more or less proceed all the way through. This was probably me underestimating the author, but I didn't stick around to check. Then the story quickly gained that weird vocal following and their comments just made new chapters look exactly like the downward (or upward if you wish) spiral that I was assuming. That's not the case at all apparently.

Still not sure if I'd read it to the end had Lanternon miraculously come back from the looks-like-ded and finish it. Many points it tries to make and the whole setting just don't roll with me. All I'm saying is, I feel a tad ashamed maintaining a false poor impression for so long.
