What's the deal with these idiots? They get all the newest technology and stuff but they can't do shit with that. Why would Japanese people even join the army to begin with? Conscription isn't madnatory over there and all they ever do is "train" and shoot those retarded recruitment movies.

In Japan, it's looked down even more than in the U.S, because the only people who sign up are poor, desperate losers who have no place in society. There's no pride or higher social standing to gain from joining the SDF.

Japan's self defense force role has now largely become one of disaster relief rather than military defense.
So most of the recruits join to become some sort of super firemen.
