That's enough for me. Good games, _Akagi_. I'm going to hate myself for suggesting this to a Suika player, but use 5B more; it's one of the better projectiles in the game. Also, when you land an air-to-air j.5A, immediately do j.6A -> j.5B; it's a simple, easy, damaging combo. Other than that, just try to get a feel for when to block and when to graze, and be a lot more careful when you air-tech.

If you patch 1.02 over 1.03, it reverts to 1.02, making fishdecks and frogdecks possible again. I can mediafire the 1.02 patch if anyone wants now that tasofro took it down.

It doesn't work with the 1.03 weatherpatch though, so you'll need to run the normal exe. But who needs to read the weather when you can have fish?

Sorry at the dick move at the end of that last match. Just needed to let you know that that snake is grazable, so never throw it out naked. The only set I know for it is 2C or 2[C], but it's just like Marisa, wait for a spiritless opponent to take to the skies and it should land. Sweet, you took my advice and actually put together a sustainable Okuu! Even through my sucky Remi I could tell you're at least comfortable using her. Are you AWARE that Meiling is totally and irredeemably broken? She dashes and blocks too low to the ground to hit with Aya's 66C, she gets out of the air to ground string free because she backs up so fast while blocking, not to mention she can duck under it if she doesn't want to just wait, 5A 6A doesn't connect because she backs up so fast, etc.
Oh, and not to mention Sakuya. Meiling dashes so low to the ground I have no melee cancel that I can use after 2B. Instant j.2A whiffs on her dashing, when it hits all other crouching characters. She can literally dash out any time I use my B bullets to pressure and there's no way I can punish it even if I see it coming.
In other words, neither character has any realistic way to put any sort of pressure on Meiling. Meiling runs around and waits for chances to use her untouchable air to air game to score free 2k damage combos and wins by default, since you can't force a hit against her. I'm sure Youmu's obscene pressure still works on her, and I have no doubt if I picked cheeseball Suika, but a high tier character shouldn't win by default just because you didn't pick another high tier character. Jesus christ. That was just stupid.

I was under the impression that all of that was made up for by the fact that Meiling has no good way to handle a person who's good at zoning when they are using a zoning character. If I face a good Yuyuko, Yukari, or Patchoulli, I pretty much spend most of the match getting slapped around, trapped, and unable to do anything. The other portion, the part where I finally get to DO damage, is something that I have to take full advantage of.

Personally, I thought you were doing fairly well with Aya, but I'm not really the most experienced at this game, so my input probably isn't worth too much. I wouldn't really go as far as to say that Meiling is broken, though...

That's the thing. I don't play a zoning Aya. I get up in there faces and try to put them into blockstun until I can punish a bad jump out or guard crush them. But it DOESN'T WORK on Meiling. I had exactly one gimmick: run away and spam danmaku until you started flying after me constantly, then turn around and air BnB you. I never hit you with any danmaku after the first match. I hit you with maybe two ground combos in 4 or 5 matches. She literally takes away all my options and forces me to play in an incredibly limited manner. If you had realized this, you could've easily taken advantage of it for near perfects every time.

Not to argue with you or anything, but isn't it the nature of all fighters to have characters who happen to be weak against other characters? Just as it's hard for me to face, say, a Yuyuko or Yukari, it's hard for an Aya or a Sakuya to give a good showing against a Meiling. In fact, facing a good Yuyuko limits my options (if I'm not careful when going for an air-game, I'm going to be taking a lot of damage and/or orb-breaks). In the future if you feel a little frustrated, though, don't hesitate to switch to Suika to drive your point home if you want. Even if she's a little boring to fight (all good Suikas play the same), I'd still welcome the challenge.

For Remilia, I suggest using the grab more, it hurts like hell, heals you, and ignore guard too! I also suggest you dropping the 3 cost red cross and replace it with the 5 cost one. You should pay more attention to my rocket dives, those things hurts, but you can easily punish me back since I am pretty much vulnerable for a full second to two when I return to the field

She recovers spirit more slowly after moves, lost pressure options, and had big holes in her hitboxes plugged up, most notably her ability to dash behind opponents.
Basically she can't throw out endless knives while zipping around with her airplane hitbox and pressure without endangering herself any more. It is really mostly the fact that her spirit is wrecked so she can't pressure or cover herself well at all anymore.

It's not a global difference.
All spirit consuming moves in the game result in a period where spirit can't be recovered.
Sakuya's time before recovery is now way above average when all of her moves are looked at, the massive TBR on her 214 move (3s) is one of the biggest examples.
A character with fast TBR is Patchy. Patchy basically has nothing over 2s, with even her mighty 236 fireball only taking around 1s before she's recovering. Yuyuko is also fairly fast TBR all around. Marisa has lightning fast TBR on her normal bullets but can have very long TBR on some of her specials.
Most characters have a mix of good/bad TBR moves. For example Suika has a .5s or so TBR on her fastball (6B) but has a long TBR on her 214 (babies.)
The recovery lag time can really ruin some moves. For example take Reimu's Binding Border. In Soku it was made into a pretty good move, downside is it has a TBR of 3+ seconds. If you end combos with it you might be empty when the opponent wakes up and using it as a poke or zoning tool can leave you deep in the hole if the opponent breaks through.

You seem to have improved since the last time we played, since I lost most of the times with Cirno. Apparently Perfect Freeze isn't very good on typhoon.

You could have times your spellcards better, often I could just block them and follow with s SC of my own. Though you improved a lot near the last matches. Also, damn that 3A, I got guardcrushed way too often because of that.

How does one melee attack someone who spams bullets (Patchouli) in the air / Yukari even on the ground.
As soon as the grazing stops for the dash attack / any attack in the air, I get a bullet right in the face.
66BC works against single large bullets, but against Yukari's shuriken, it's just useless.

I think I mentioned last time that Youmu is my main, but I enjoy playing most of the other characters. Remilia and Suwako are the only ones I don't understand how to play.

As for advice, what can I say? Most of the time my combos were simple Dial-A:s, and I made a lot of mistakes myself. One thing you should pay attention to are attacks that can be punished when blocked. The last hit of Suika's Dial-A is one of these, so you shouldn't use it when it seems the opponent will block it. Also, Youmu has a very long attack that can usually punish a blocked loliball.

Other than that, pay more attention to your opponent's cards, so you know when you have to be more careful; Youmu's 5-card runpast is a very good example of this. Make sure you know most of the other characters' cards even if you don't play them yourself.

Also, you should pay more attention to weather, flying high in the air on scorching sun is really a bad idea...

Really? For some reason I wasn't really frustrated during our matches, even when you were Yukari. Whenever I thought I had a chance, that Utsuho SC pretty much ended any hope I had. I'm not sure who learned more from that session.

I did notice that I was repeatedly punished whenever I did that retreating j.2C sequence, but I don't know any other way of resetting the corner blockstring (or catching dash out attempts) besides hj9 j.2A j.2C 66 j.5A, which seems to easy for someone to just dash out of.

Our ranges are about the same, so there are those small segments where I'm actually trying to footsie with Okuu's slow as hell walking speed, which usually failed, and I ended up really limited with 3A. I thought I would be able to 623 between Komachi 5B HJ9 j.2A, but uh, I guess not. Too goddamn tall. In fact, I had a hard time getting away without my coins. Forced my hand pretty hard, so there were those two matches where I tried forcing Typhoons on you, but that was a pretty fucking horrible idea. Problem with Komachi is that you tend to get one rep of corner strings, and if you don't either guess right to their escape and punish or they're too scared to move and you can pour it on some more. You're definitely approaching it the right way with 2A stagger, but if you end in fountain or a GC, your pressure obviously ends. If you know they'll stay still after some 2As, you can 5B -> nothing and wait for a reaction. A dashout will probably be a far dashout to escape what would-have-been j.2A, and you can 5A -> whatever. If they jumped out, you might not slap them good, but blocked j.6/8A or not, the momentum's still yours for as long they're in the air anywhere near you. If they keep blocking, you can reset.

Komachi in general runs off of fear, and since I main her, I'm pretty scared already. I didn't graze out of anything midscreen because even though you didn't run it, 5AA 5B HJ9 IADj.6A(or IAD j.6A in general) would've torn Okuu apart, and I couldn't get it out of my head that "Maybe he'll spring it now. Maybe now. Nope? Now."
