Apex definitely played a part me thinks, that game can be a buff or debuff to popularity depending on the streamer and Aruran wasn't exactly good at the time, which tends to filter people, not to mention that since Astel and Izuru were also training for the tournament a lot of the people that came at the time probably flocked to them instead, especially to Astel,
It's pretty sad tho if I'm being honest, Aruran's english streams are really fun and his Cultural Exchange/English Learning ones in particular are really good, I dare say they are the best English Learning streams in all of Holopro, they are really interesting and fun and even pretty educational (I definitely learned a few things) and the fact that he still makes them and does so pretty consistenly shows that he really wants to conect with his overseas audience, so it's pretty sad that they seem to have become less popular

I'm into Babudon stuff a bit more because I like that funny bro dynamic they have going on, but MaFia's fanservice really appeals to the more BL and art oriented fans (that can draw exceptionally well or decently to add). It won't be a surprise to see a ton of super lewd MaFia doujins if any actually come out. To begin with, JP fandom culture won't tag ship or nsfw art with any official tags, not just with vtubers, but with anime and such, too. Basically anything that's considered non-canon or within the realm of "delusion" shouldn't be tagged under the official tag to avoid giving the wrong idea about the franchise. With Holostars specifically I've seen fans make specific tags for stuff like shota, maid, or fem Holostars fanart instead of using their official fanart tags.

With that in mind and the fact vtubers are real people, fans are way more careful that stuff like ship and nsfw art isn't easy to find so the talents don't see it, I think some artists will even block the talents if they're drawing lewd stuff despite there being official R18 tags.
