it's pretty different from the movies, there's a lot less esoteric type stuff and more of a focus on political intrigue. the overarching story was great imo. i'm not usually into procedurals/investigative shows since it's always garbage in anime but this was great. it does have some interesting ideas beyond that though and i liked the world building a lot more in the show than the movies. it's like a better psycho pass.

i will give you a long answer because i assume you are asking seriously.

you get the benefits of citizenship such as the right to live and work in japan, and the undeniable right of entry into japan. anyone on a visa simply has permission to live in japan and technicallly those permissions can be revoked at any time. if your plan is to live in japan forever then acquiring citizenship is only common sense at that point. and the permissions for working are extremely limited based on which visa category you hold - if you are a citizen you can do any job you want and work however many hours you want as long as it doesn't break labor laws. the right to enter into the country was always seen by gaijin as laughable until recently but the pandemic showed that the right of entry can be revoked at any time for any reason. technically if the government wanted they could issue an order to kick out all of the foreigners, but if you're a citizen you're protected.

if you're from america you no longer have to file american taxes.

you gain the most powerful passport in the world.

if you run into trouble in another country the japanese government will help you.

it wouldn't be easier, but the process is extremely easy. there are 6 requirements.

>(1) that he or she has domiciled in Japan for five years or more consecutively;
