Korean's actually a nice writing system because syllables are grouped. Hangul is clearly written as (h+a+n)(g+u+l), so you know where to pause, etc.

I find reading some Japanese without spaces very hard because of no idea where one word ends. Even worse in kana-heavy stuff.

I basically think of Korean and Japanese as being analogs of French and German in terms of slur vs, rigidity, to a degree. Now, I'm no cunning linguist, so I might be totally off.

I'm thinking of going to teach in East Asia, so I've been looking into Korean (already know some Japanese from weeabooing). Basically, I'd be able to learn to read and write Korean super-quick, but Id have a ton of trouble listening and speaking. Conversely, I can hear/speak Japanese fairly well, but can't remember Kanji for shit.

Japanese should just start using latin alphabet for loanwords. It doesn't even make a real difference - they'll still pronounce it horribly (alas, without guidance for them to pronounce it horribly! ) and may or may not have an idea what it means.

Not that I'd know, but at least I expect it'd make certain topics (say, non-Japanese history where every battle and treaty name is presumably in katakana) somewhat saner to read.

Apparently you don't actually speak Japanese. Katakana, while limited in the range of sounds it can represent, is vastly more clear and easy to understand than the roman alphabet. Even more so when you factor in root words that come from different languages with vastly different pronunciations of those letters.

I lived in Korea for 3 fucking years. Worst period of my life..

In my vacation time I went to Japan, the people were much friendlier and better to be around.

Fucking Koreans are all xenophobic, even my student's parents wouldn't talk to me, and I was the head teacher at the school in my 3rd year.

The ONLY good Koreans I met were those that lived OUTSIDE of Korea for a short time, when they came back to Korea they all realized how FULL OF SHIT ALL KOREANS ARE! My students at times were ok, better than the typical "I've never seen a foreigner lets get in his face" mentality.

In all fairness, the typical Korean is brainwashed into the "Social Circles Only" mindset, which seldomly allows them to marry after 28, and they rarely make new friends after 25.

Korea has mad Japan-envy, they always act like Japan is the chip in their shoulder. Best part it, while Koreans will have anti-Japan demonstrations and brainwash their children to hate Japan for no reason; most Japanese don't give a fuck about the Koreans.
