God forbid. My only gripe is including anything behind that link, which is the case for one of his decks. If there's nothing paywalled, he's only gaining $$$ from people choosing to give him cash for no direct product or service in return. If he releases that freely then I'm OK.
Bluntly speaking, animecards, itazuraneko, and tatsumoto are almost in the exact same category of primarily shilling free methods and guides. They all three also shill an optional community provided, but no one is giving a stink about that ATM.
The hand-wringing has more to do with the people making those sites and random anons giving unwarranted fucks about which particular sites are "vetted" by DJT, when there is none at all regardless of what is in the OP.

Anki experts I need your help. What kind of cards would you create if you had to know by heart the onyomi and kunyomi of each kanji you're learning? University testing us on absurd stuff. I know that 80% of the time mono-syllabic sounds are onyomi (like トウ and キョウ in 東京) and that the same apply to words that have multiple kanji (again, like in 東京). So I would just have to learn exceptions of this rule (like イチ for 一) to be able to tell whether a pronunciation is onyomi or kunyomi but still have to learn every reading in the first place. At first I thought about doing cloze deletion for each reading but some of them are so similar (sometimes just adding a っ or tenten) that seeing the other readings could give too much of a hint, making a card that was supposed to test production test recognition instead. Yet there are many kanji with many readings that sound really different, so I don't know what to do to get the most out of it.

Back, onyomi in one line, kunyomi in another, examples of each in a sentence, find examples with audio
Anyway, try kanshudo, it has integration with whatever book your course is using, and at any rate you can copy the cards there for the kanji your course is using.
Your course is probably only doing like 10 kanji a week, anyway.
I took japanese in uni too, and it was a waste of time.
As long as you practice every day you can learn all the content of the course in a couple weeks.
