you need to pay the tuition fee and such, which is like $10-12k a year on average, tokyo schools are probably a bit more, also you need to have a certain amount of cash available on your bank account so you can proof you can support yourself, 1 year stays require you to have $10k in cash, and 2 year stays can be up to $40k in cash, also some schools needs to see your tax returns, but i think you theres a work around where you can get two 1 year visa in a row so you just need 10k in cash, but that depends on the school, you can get a part time job when you get there if you need it, but you need that cash when you apply for the visa so you cant just say you expect to get a part time job when you get there

you can get an apartment through gogonihon too, shared, dormitory or your own apartment, the latter one is obviously the most expensive, especially if its in tokyo, so expect to use $1-2k+ on rent alone each month

expensive, but if you feel like spending 50k total to learn japanese + degree then go ahead

I would only do it if you actually want to live and work in japan for real, the degree you get can get you a job, but if you want a good job you need to spend an additional year of studying to get it up to university degree level or something, then you can be a true japanese salaryman
