Admittedly I haven't read very many, but Ever17 blew me away when things were actually happening. Having to replay what was essentially the same story four times was kind of a pain and really slowed the pace, as well as some characters' routes just not being very good. Coco made up for all of that and more, though.Otherwise...I guess Umineko doesn't count, but I've enjoyed it thus far about as much.

Sengoku Rance (for it being very fun and hilarious) and Ever17 (For Coco's route) are my current favorites that aren't influenced by nostalgia.

Full Metal Daemon Muramasa, the reasons:

-Very interesting and well though-out story and a great setting.
-Focus on a theme from the beginning to the end and really doesn't do a half-assed job at it like most eroge, it's realistic and brutal but it never tries to force some LOL SO DARK shit either, really a perfect balance.
-Fucking awesome cast of characters probably the best I saw in a VN.
-Godlike production value and lots of great fights, it feels even more impressive than MuvLuv Alt.

I played some of it, though haven't finished it yet. From what I've seen Tomoyo After is not even close to Clannad, it was a huge disappointment. It's pretty bad that it has a completely different art style from Clannad and Tomoyo has a different voice actor, but the story is pretty crappy too.

Umineko, a bit fed up with every VN being a harem just to bang the girl, after a few times is boring, even with a good story, having to repeat the same story over an over just to bang girls is a bit stupid. Sharin no Kuni in second because the branching system, you choose a girl but you continue with the same story and have the same till you get girl own ending, makes easier just download the savedata for the rest
