The whole thing about spirit energy (which hasn't been an actual term for years, it's just called mana or essence) being a counterpart to mamono mana and them being "two sides of the same coin" ceased to be how things work. Runya Runya adopted a much more detailed description compared to the Wandering Scholars early summaries. The end meaning is similar, namely mamono mana is still very similar to other types of mana but with a number of unique and special properties, but Runya Runya didn't try to get poetic with "two sides of the same coin" analogies like the scholar.
