Realistically there isn't one. Your best bet is trying to find some chill people to talk with personally.

Doing that is the hard part unfortunately but if you're a kig or actively trying to get into kig you do have an advantage.

I'd recommend making a twitter account and asking around, be up front about it too, rather than just a "hi" try mentioning that you're a kig/newcomer looking to socialise. If you're not comfortable trying to get buddy buddy with people in DMs try asking around for groups or advice instead.

Even if they themselves aren't very interested in getting to know new people they might still be sympathetic and be able to point you in the right direction.

Two little bits of advice from myself:

The discords do tend to be a bit shit or dead but there's a lot of people in the shit ones and people still keep an eye on the dead ones. Proactively trying to be social in either of them are likely to get you a few responses at least whilst broadcasting you're interested in more.

Also, don't focus on only the "good" kigs. Personally see it happen quite a lot where people refuse to try interacting with anyone who isn't lower than a 7/10 or at least relatively famous in the community. Those are the people that get the most DMs and are least likely to be interested in getting to know new people on average. Some of the most openly sociable kigs and general nicest guys I've met have been kigs that are like 4/10s on a generous day.

If you're just interested in kig posts, then frankly you're not going to do much better than either here or twitter. Here is more drama filled and obnoxious but it's generally a bit more consistently quality and a lot more on topic whilst twitter gives you a metric ton more content, just not all of it as universally liked as stuff that gets posted here and a lot of it ends up being unrelated if you follow any kig you like without checking to see how often they post kig content.

TKC Taiwan Kig Community, its a very large group which organises meets and events in their respective country, you will see its events/members on twitter if you look for it . Whoever recommended skin-colored zentai as a stand in for a hada is a genius. Not only is it a one-size-fits-most while getting shit together for measurements for a hada, it's also cheap by comparison so I don't have to worry about tossing it in the washer and worry about discoloration. as someone who got into kig without knowing anyone, it doesn't really feel like it. Been a kig for about three-ish years now and I kig for like an hour every two-three months.

I'm not Coru but it's not exactly hard to see how it's gotten to this point imo.

It's a ridiculously niche hobby, the number of kigs out there probably number between 1000-3000 across the entire world and I'd be willing to believe at the barest minimum 40% of that is purely China. Meanwhile in the west the number of kigs is probably around 200-500. That's not a lot of people.

We as a collective expand so slowly there's been no huge demand for large scale communities or resources, no easy to access subreddits or forums, no particularly active or knowledgeable groups anywhere. Not even a wiki.

Instead what we have is functionally a few private discord servers that happened to grow large and a 4chan thread, the majority of which are dominated by people reposting twitter pics, unrelenting NSFW posting, drama and/or constant references and vagueposting about shit only certain older community members know and care about.
In a way it's like what >>39986179 said, despite growing in numbers we're still treating all community spaces as the small private spaces they used to be.

If you try and ask questions or get to know people in shared community spaces as you would in any other hobby you'll be ignored. To them you're a nobody so they don't care to know you and since you're not contributing to the usual content dump they have absolutely no interest in you. On top of that the groups themselves are often not great places to be.

You want to get involved with the 4chan thread? well too bad if you don't like horny posting, pedophiles and the usual 4chan bullshittery.

The Kigurumi Shame Zone? same as the above but now you have a name and face for the shitty people.

The Animegao circle? a bunch of literal autists who desperately need professional help already.

The "Based Kig Server"? is a combination of being completely dead most of the time and when active being filled with people who spend more time calling people filthy niggers and chinks than actually posting about kig.

Kigurumi Research Centre? basically dead aside from the creator who whilst helpful is also an incredibly harsh and blunt depressed lady who kicks off at people for making mistakes and/or not knowing niche shit she feels is common sense.

Even beyond that, there's constant drama and rumours between and about most kigs these days. If you bring up any kig that's ever had an online presence you're going to have at least three people tell you how awful that kig is. Some of it justified, some of it not, so it's hard to find anyone who you'd even want to get in contact with on a more personal level and even if you do find someone, chances are they've been getting a lot of weird messages from creeps so they're likely to ignore you anyway.


So overall we're left in a situation where the few new people who aren't scared off by the cost and tedium of kig aren't able to get a foothold in this already difficult to get into hobby, leading to very few new kigs, leading to groups not evolving and useful information not being disseminated widely. All the while the current groups get more and more insular and entrenched in their biases, assumptions and behaviours.

I left out twitter because with kig I don't really feel it fulfils the role of a social space. It's probably the one place with the highest number of kigs but no one really talks on twitter. It's all just posting content, whether that be pics, videos or blog posts.

The closest thing I've ever seen to actual social interactions on twitter was someone asking me where I'd bought one of my outfits, someone asking if anyone was going to a certain con and me personally asking someone else a question about their outfit.

I have one I comissioned with him in 2013.
He didn’t design by handwriting (?) then, he had a base shell and used for all masks and sculpted the mouths or drilled them in shape by using a sort of putty (that was yellow iirc). There were pictures of that on his personal Twitter (that wasnt locked for the longest time, so idk why ura was mentioned).
He didn’t quote by hand either: I have the emails from that comission.
Even tho he played with people’s names, it was all for good fun.

I didn't say it breaks apart. A friend visited me in April and he showed me how thin the mask is. I measured it and agreed. Should I post pics of people's masks? No. But on Twitter people are saying this all over, of course not publicly because that would be frawned upon. Same reason I'm remaining anonymous.

For foxsake, if you want to order from RINs, just do it when they are open; no need to raise any drama here. RINs masks are not "ugly" per se, well but their art style have changed to such a point that I wouldn't even bother liking kigs with their masks. Didn't know they reopened. I think there are strange rules, for example you have to send a link to a full PDF containing detailed sketches of your character (no twitter links etc). This can be simply done by using gigafile.nu or just Dropbox.

Yeah, that's the kind of short temper I saw in many mask makers. Bans people immediately. This never happens in professional mask/costume makers. I guess you'd have to treat them like private individuals - who gets mad quickly and remembers every single wrong you've done. But hey, you're the one begging them.
