I've been using the "moeway" guide for a while and IMO its not worth it , its not a good guide it isn't written well and requires too much effort for no good reason. It's more than a Jap learning method more like Mehmet's (shoui's) lifestyle choices he's forcing onto you IMO.

Knowing the basic counters (二つ, 二人) is pretty helpful, and they're probably easiest to memorize via brute force. Helps a lot, since I feel a lot of written works (even those with furigana) won't spell out the counters.
You could also try to sound them out. Memorizing kanji is a lot easier (for me at least) when I try to match the sound of the word to the symbol.

Finally, this is something that affects all studying, not only Japanese, but sleep. If you want to memorize things well, try to get more sleep in if you don't get enough.

Don't fall for the "proven" method, its shit.
Try the improved 2k instead, has pictures and some context to help remember.
Also look into some plain kanji radical study, like wanikani deck for example, helps a lot distinguishing the nuances of kanji and its meanings.

You can just bash through of course, but as you mentioned, it will be more frustrating that way. I also suggest some brief grammar study along side, and some very easy immersion like tadoku.

First is the easier to immerse audio books, just get into one, listen and read, you will probably understand it, and end up acquiring a few words just from that.
Second is is a bit a grammar read, it goes a long way in identifying what is what in a japanese sentence, its just something that you should look into but not get stuck on it.
Third is the improved deck, major improvement over the raw core2/6k, and specially the ordering which really sucks ass in most decks.

You're talking like minimum 2 years of your life. It's pretty good, if you've never touched the series or haven't formed a proper opinion on what the gameplay should be and feel like.
If you've played the older entries you might end up incredibly disappointed by how alien and "Fortnite-like" (for a lack of a better term) everything feels. But overall it's still a pretty solid and fun game if you put in the time to learn all the in-depth mechanics.
I just want to warn you that all MH games in general are designed to waste your time as much as possible, so take that into consideration if you want to get into it.

Learning shit was so easy when I was 14 compared to now. I went through the khan academy math playlist in less than two weeks and didn't need to study math for the next 4 years.

I think 19 was the last time my brain felt "plastic".

Now at 24 it is really hard to learn stuff. When I tried to learn HOI4 my brain just couldn't adapt. It feels like it's not able to modify itself.
