hay /jp/

just wanted to share this little piece of javascript I made out of boredom, it's a canvas/javascript danmaku game.
http://www.kikya.com/danmaku/
Very basic graphics, 1 level, 1 life. If anyone wants to mess around with the code, improve it, create more levels/spellcards, the source is here.
http://www.kikya.com/danmaku/danmaku.zip
If you want to edit the level, look for level1.js.

thanks for this

Nice, but yeah make hitbox visible while replacing it with cute girl sprite. Maybe a drawfriend will help you out?

Bookmarked, btw.

I can feel my CPU fan revving up already~

That was cute though, I could run it fine, but my computer is pretty beastly. You should probably consider, you know... taking it seriously and not using JavaScript.

you could replace the image files

be different and make it a cute boy sprite

Nice engine. Finaly someone creative on /jp/. Well done!

I would improve it but JavaScript is not viable for making good browser games. Try flash or switch to professional game developement in C/C++.

I always wanted to create a danmaku that interacts with the music that you are loading into the game, but I don't know where to start

maybe your sources will help me, thanks~

That's a little bit hard to do.

You hace to decompress and decode the audio, and analyze the waves. And then, with some algorythms, make the patterns basing on the waves.

OP here, I just did it as an exercise to test out the html5 canvas functions. Nothing serious really. Also my head was exploding trying to crunch out the math needed to calculate the coordinates for homing bullets or circular spell cards, so I wouldn't know where to start to make more complex bullet paths.

Anyway thanks for the feedback.

also OP your game is pretty fun

DO NOT FSCKING WANT.

For Pete's sake, let this cancer go already.

Make a standalone game if you need to (Python/Pygame? Perl? C? whatever), but don't let this POS resource hog/security hole spread again.

While HTML 5 doesn't becomes a standard and browsers don't implement some hardware acceleration, maybe. But Google and Mozilla are working to bring Hardware Surfaces into WebGL (which means hardware accelerated graphics on canvas), and you'll also have Audio and Video tags, so why not?

Also, see >>4777436
