Actually, I have played it, at least Sumika and Meiya's paths. Physics Teacher's random wild antics drove the story almost completely, and were pretty much complete non-sequiturs. Add in a side order of ridiculously cliched childhood promise story vs childhood friend and you get an entirely average VN. Just like Wind.

Actually I thought most Muv Luv characters were pretty meh. It's one of the biggest flaws of the game I thought. Well, there are a ton of other stuff that stopped me from liking it too but that's probably the biggest.

Extra is better than Wind though because it's at least funny for a little while. After a quarter way through the game the humor gets old and stale and crappy and what not but at least it's enjoyable for a decent portion.

As far as I can see the “Dote Up a Cat” entry is incorrect. It links to http://www.enterthewired.org/ team whom are responsible for the Air translation and Kanon PSP port. Nothing on their page or forums indicates they are working on a translation of “Dote Up a Cat”.

I did however find a .swf file of a translated opening for the game posted by someone named Cyber Akuma on the swfchan.net achieve and some limited conversation which may or may not indicate a translation.

To go back to Alternative, personally I liked it a lot but I pretty much consider it the same as a blockbuster movie.

It's very entertaining, even "epic" at times, the production are godlike, the plot is good and full of twists.
It just make you spend a great time.

But it lacks impact, at least for me, while it make a great movie/anime it doesn't really make a great novel.

In theory MangaGamer, Jast (or some future company) might make a deal with Alice Soft, however until recently the only modern company was Jast, and until they got the Nitro+ deal they brought over games they could get for cheap. MangaGamer is getting a number of deals, however I doubt that they would quickly go for another big deal if they do negotiate a deal with Key, and Jast releases stuff slowly enough that Nitro+ is the only big deal they would need for half a decade.

Strato is the guy working on it, but he has been generally quiet about it (after his initial posting on gemot). I actually liked Edelweiss quite much, but it truly was a chore to read, and in the end it felt like I had to translate it myself as I was reading it.
It actually went a lot smoother to read the original together with agth and my understanding of japanese.
