Zun is REALLY starting to run out of ideas.

Up through Imperishable Night, the character designs were all really good. There are a few weak ones here and there (mostly lower-stage bosses) but nothing stands out as blatantly rehashy. And the few new characters introduced in the fighting games (Suika, Iku, Tenshi) are cool too.

Starting from about Mountain of Faith onward, Touhou is really starting to suffer from some serious Megaman syndrome. A lot of them look like previous touhous with a few color changes, and I don't like how Sakuya is getting the shaft in favor of a rookie like Green Reimu.

I kinda hope the next Touhou game will be the last one (and I'm sorry to have to say that) because I don't want this series run into the ground like Megaman

Nue looks like a goth Flandre.
Orin looks like goth Chen.
Utsuho looks like some kind of evil Reimu.
And I think it's extremely rude to Amusement Makers to pretend the PC-98 games never happened.

Sakuya isn't in the games anymore because this is the Youkai Mountain saga. A new saga (and a new playable character that will replace Sanae) will begin in the later games.
