Drones outrange probes by 1 hex, so not if you play intelligently. Also not "100% of the", what if the drone is on creep? It would have a clear advantage.

Extractor trick gives you an extra drone early in the game, it wouldn't help you in a fight at all. Also it was found to be cost inefficient years ago, it's really a 2006 kind of move.

I didn't mean that Extractor Trick, I meant the one where you build an Extractor with an injured Drone and cancel it to refill its life.

But yeah, it's not really used that much.
Against a probe that's hell bent on killing one of your Drones in the mineral line, sometimes.

Incidentally it doesn't work in SC2 anymore. ;_;

You're refunded (most of) the minerals when you cancel a building. And building a new Drone takes up larva. So by healing a Drone and building a new Drone with the larva, you get two Drones instead of one for nearly the same cost.

Of course, it's better to never let a Drone get that injured in the first place. But in some cases, like when the Drone is scouting a Protoss base, say, you really want to keep it alive.
