Even though it already is you should make it a Gust games thread. Atelier Rorona is out soon in America and Europe, Atelier Totori is out soon in Japan and AT3 should be out next Spring sometime. This would give more room to discuss things rather than mainly focusing solely on AT.

And to the gb2/v/ crowd - /v/ is full of meme spouting retards and it moves far too fast for its own good, you honestly can't expect any decent discussion there without the thread dying off within the hour or being bombed with generic reaction images and green text stories. Ar Tonelico focuses heavily on diving into cosmospheres which is pretty much a VN with extreme amounts of innuendo followed up with some great music from well known singers and delicious female characters which makes it pretty 'Otaku Culture' related in my eyes.

I also find it ironic that these threads get the usual HURR DURR /v/ treatment yet every other generic flavour of the month thread (Aika etc.) that gets posted here is perfectly fine. Hypocrisy at its finest, I guess. Oh well, not like it matters since Sion will just get buttangery about Valkyria not being allowed and decide to bomb this thread yet again.

It's always been a point of concern for me in AT games. You believe you get a good ending and everything seems fine but realistically speaking a good portion of the endings are pretty fucking grim. For example Misha will clearly outlive Lyner as will Shurelia, Jakuri will outlive Croix, Tilia only gets a few years to live and these are only personal relationships. If you didn't do Phase 3 in AT1 you pretty much destroy the world a few years later. Feels bad man.

So I recently acquired a modded PS2, and burned a copy of AT1. Unfortunately I cannot play it, as every time I try to save I get a Save Failed, and my memory card ends up with a corrupted data that I have to clear out with Action Replay.

I have tried cleaning out the slots, and I can create save files with other games, but for whatever reason AT just doesn't want to save. No solutions anywhere on the internet either. Any ideas?

EXEC_CHRONICLE_KEY/. is naturally awesome.
EXEC_HARMNONIUS/. is a great song, especially for a last boss fight and it's better than Mir's version, in my opinion.
EXEC_SUSPEND/. is a pretty powerful song too simply because of how it puts your waifu(s) to sleep and then the credits start to roll while it's still playing. ;_;

In any case, Cosmoflips is probably my favorite song out of the Blue Side. It's the only disc which I bothered to actually go out and get. Now they just need to localize the game.

I beat Phase 2 of AT last night, are the other two games as ridiculously easy? Just install some + damage grathnodes into the Aurica Mk 1 song and damn near one-shot both of the bosses at the end.

Protip: That isn't the last boss. Phase 3 Mir is the last boss. And yes, they're ridiculously easy. I had tier 3 weapons for Jack and Krusche, along with Lyner's final weapon all with random crystals I'd picked up that seemed to have ridiculously stupid stats + slotted some extra stuff in Shurelia's song magic and it was a faceroll for phase 3. I learnt my lesson with AT2 and decided just to play without using Girl Power and having dirty reyvateils. Pretty fun when you're reyvateils can get 1 shot.

I dunno, that gimps you pretty hard. The biggest balance issue in AT2 is that guard++++ IPDs make it stupidly easy to perfect guard everything and take zero damage. If you stay away from those, the difficulty is more reasonable.

AT newfag here, has anyone played AT3? How is the difficulty there? AT 1 & 2 look like they have good battle systems, but from the sound of it they're very easy and it's hard to enjoy battle systems when you kill enemies so easily you don't get to use the big meat of it.

This works too. I didn't even realize they levelled up each time you use a unique crystal so I had starting level Luca and Cloche while everyone else was 40+ and honestly it made the game much more enjoyable when bosses do those stupidly fast attacks and you get seriously fucked over because of it. Levelling them up and/or using Girl Power without guard+ makes it easier but it's still hard during certain fights. Using girl power with guard+ is basically cheating the game.

Kiting in AT3? Seems like a waste of time. Just take control of Cocona and put defense/hp gear on everyone else, and you can tear stuff up pretty easily.

Not everything attacks those 2 characters though. Bosses have AoE, multiple monsters etc. so you're bound to get hit. It's not uncommon to drop down to 500hp or less before you need to retreat and use some potions. It's also a common tactic to run in, let the monster begin its attack animation then run out again before you get hit.

I always hate that in so many realtime RPG's- running past an enemy, and it starts some sort of lunging melee animation. You're now 15 feet away from him, his sword/claws/whatever connect with thin air, but you go UNGH! and the attack still connects.

Indeed it does. Some attacks, like AoE, are pretty bullshit regarding their visual range and actual range but otherwise you can fake out enemy attacks before you go running in.

It's pretty much confirmed. Rorona is being released in Autumn some time so that leaves a gap for them to do AT3 with an estimated release date of Spring next year.

Judging from AT3's plot, first of all you need a larger, deeper cosmosphere to accomodate other people's "data", gammas' have multiple souls in their cosmospheres becuase theirs go deeper than just lvl9.
And even so the process is unstable and considerably shortens the life of the Reyvateil.
As for Origins, they don't even have a proper cosmosphere in the first place, the best you could do is to transfer into their tower's binary field as it's the nearest thing close to a cosmosphere they posses.

When I finally get around to actually going through with the split, starting Luca's route is going to be the most counter-intuitive choice that I've ever had to make in a videogame.

At least the consequences of shitty choices in visual novels only last for a few hours at the most. You're stuck with friendzoned Cloche and Luca in the lead female role for a good 30 hours after the split.

Each unique crystal grants them a permanent +1 level increase regardless of how shitty the crystal is. They also aren't used up each time you use them so you can raid all of the shops on Meta Falss for crystals then keep throwing Luca in the bath by herself changing the crystals each time and she'll eventually reach a ridiculously stupid level with higher HP than your vanguards. The stats you get from the crystals honestly become meaningless towards the end of the game.

There couldn't really be a sequel unless it's about them fighting on the planet itself since the sea of death has cleared and the towers have fallen. This, of course, would mean no song magic/cosmosphere diving etc. so it'd just be another generic RPG. A prequel could be made though but it's doubtful, sadly. The guy doing the technical room seems to want to steer clear of any information regarding the Teru so perhaps a game revolving around them could be made.

When Tilia dies in the not-too-distant future, her Tower will disappear, yes, and everything still on top of it falls. There's nothing wrong with Shurelia-oneechan's or Frelia's towers, though. Actually I went into AT2 expecting this crazy bitch who was a total whore etc. and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked Luca, despite her being pretty fucked up. I haven't personally done her route out of sheer laziness but I still enjoyed her as a character.

I actually think the opposite. I love her costume, especially the winged ornaments but.. well just look at her. Her breasts are just screaming to be looked at, they're just sitting there in plain sight. This just doesn't seem to go well with the whole 'holy maiden' image. Plus I personally think they're disgustingly huge. I can tolerate tumours but I have my limits.
