I'm curiosu, /jp/. How much money do each of you blow on your hobbies every month, on average?
Mind you, by hobbies I mean all kind of hobbies, not just otaku-related pastimes.

>> No.6016084

I'm able to pirate most of my hobbies.

I am aware. I understand.

I have seen the enemy.

>> No.6016092

$0.00

Beat that!

>> No.6016085

Usually $500 or more. Figures take up most of my money, with the rest being spent on miscellaneous electronics.

>> No.6016098

Most of it. Every two weeks when I get my pay cheque I look at the Year To Date earnings amount and just sigh because I have no idea where all that money goes.

>> No.6016107

It really depends. Anywhere from 20 dollars all the way to 1000+. It just depends on what I buy. On average, maybe about 150-200 dollars.

>> No.6016325

fucker are u at acen in chicago?

>> No.6016332

$80 or none at all.

>> No.6016344

Around a $100 or so. I would spend more, but I feel bad for leeching.

>> No.6016354

I spent a lot on figs lately.

Really bad.

>> No.6016377

Aside from figures which I am buying less of these days I spend mostly $350 on my home PBX, ESXi server and ever-expanding SAN that is if you break everything up into monthly payments. Though for other experiments (such as fold@home) it probably jumps to $500.

>> No.6016418

I depends on whats being released but at minimum probably $50-100 and for a good month it could be well over $1000.

And while i do buy alot of figures its not the only thing i buy.

>> No.6016422

Around $100

>> No.6016613

I can budget about $350 USD a month in "buy whatever" money. Doesn't mean I'm going to go ballistic though.

I'd say around $200-250. I also converted for you yanks so be thankful.

>> No.6016638

None, I want to start spending money on shit I want though. Just can't bring myself to. I'm cheap.

I never "got" the whole collecting figs thing and I pirate everything related to my hobbies so $0.

>> No.6016671

my electricity bill, basically

>> No.6016678

maybe 100-150, if I'm working on a model or something, maybe a little more if I'm low on supplies. I'm also a terrible impulse buyer, so that doesn't help my spending any.

I like them because they're cute. People collect things for different reasons, I guess.

>> No.6016719

Anywhere from 20~60$ a month.

I mainly pirate my games, but for fighting games and such, I buy them because I enjoy to play those online.

>> No.6016945

I usually just buy expensive things every couple months, so I don't know. I'm given $100 a month for spending money but usually just save most of it.

>> No.6016950

The internet bill is like $50 ... hell of alot if you ask me.

>> No.6016971

10-40 a month typically.
Last july I spent 160 on it though. I feel bad for spending that much, but hey it was my birthday.

>> No.6016980

I only spend money on anime/otaku stuff at con's, thats roughly $200 per con.

Hard to estimate, but maybe ~$200. I try to avoid going overboard with the figures. I never buy anime aside from a handful of R2 movie BDs, but I try to buy eroge when I play something that I like.

>> No.6017285

All of this money comes from your parents, right? If not, well, I never knew so many people on /jp/ had jobs.

>> No.6018622

If you count my internet connection and electricity bill with it maybe somewhere between $100 - $200.

>> No.6018628

It depends if I'm buying a camera or a shitload of film. Probably averages to $150 or so a month.

>> No.6018629

>>6018606
I've got four more on the way and I intend on ordering some more once pay day gets here. That is if I don't break down and buy a couple of Figmas first. If my camera battery wasn't dead I'd post my Figma collection.

>> No.6018635

I never spend money because I'm a boring person.

>> No.6018646

anything between 0€ and 90€

>> No.6018652

Most of my money goes to tech and A/V equipment. E.g. I bought a new monitor just before summer at ~$1k, a new pmp and some hardware recently, and nothing in between. I hate spening money frequently, but I don't mind paying up once I do, so it's hard to make out an exact number.

>> No.6018653

>>6018639
My camera doesn't even use batteries.

OP: I spend about 150 on 4x5 film because I'm really cool.

>> No.6018694

Nothing. I don't buy figs (where I live the shipping is either not possible or way too expensive) and I download all my games because I don't have much of an alternative.

If you consider drinking a hobby, though, maybe 30 dollars a month.

this week i dropped $400 on a mortal kombat arcade

i'm also into cooking so i bought a $200 stainless steel commercial food prep table.

still have enough left for rent on the 1st

>> No.6018718

Depends on the month, but usually somewhere in between 6000 and 12000 yen. Mostly figurines, but I occasionally get other stuff. Like pens, games, clothing, posters and calendars.

I used to be really into YGO, and back then it made up 50%> of the money I spent every month on hobbies.

Except for some games (and consoles) that I want to own I pirate most media. And thank god for that or I wouldn't be able to sustain most of my hobbies.

>> No.6018732

Right now I'm pretty poor so usually no more than $10 or $20. Kinda went nuts for Comiket and spent a lot. But I got a job now so I'll be able to waste more money soon.

>> No.6018744

I can't even afford enough to eat, so nothing.

>> No.6018832

I guess it averages out to $100 per month on external HDDs and the occassional new comp. Well, 150$ since I should include my net connection. Basically I just download stuff. Bought a figurine once and it just collects dust on the shelf so I don't really see a point in collecting physical objects. Well, doujins do look gorgeous but since my country might outlaw porn drawings of underage girls I don't really want to start collecting them. Easier to encrypt a HDD. :3

>> No.6018869

I spend around €150 for drinking and smoking/month, and while these are my only real expenses, I don't consider these to be hobbies. For my hobbies, I spend nothing at all.

>> No.6020871

Pretty much nothing at all. That's why I have tenthousands of euros in the bank.

I recently bought a Suika plushie and may add a figurine.

>> No.6020880

0 dollars. Once a year I buy something that I cannot pirate, but I make sure it isn't more than a couple hundred bucks.

>> No.6020955

Some months go by where I spend perhaps $500-600+, others where I spend little to nothing on hobbies simply because nothing released that I was interested in, and I'd already cleared up a nagging backlog of to-get items.

I'd average it out to over 2 grand a year's worth, or (roughly) 170 a month. Most of that is in figures, gunpla, the occasional computer component/upgrade.. I like scotch and fine micro-brew beer but I rarely drink aside from when I'm browsing, as Touhou and gunpla/garage kit modeling requires upmost concentration.
