UTAU thread, since /jp/ never talks about them.

I'm pretty excited about the major update it got recently, brings the voices closer to current Vocaloid quality.

sadly, UTAUs didnt get more popularity when upgrading to triphones, I don't think this update will change things.

Bah, there are too manu UTAUs anyway, last time I checked the nuber of referenced voicebanks was over 500. It's rather difficult to find the good ones.

Meanwhile Vocaloid2 gets a dinosaur singer.

I really wish there was more listenable stuff using Ritsu. The backstory to Ritsu and his Vipperloid origins, along with his character design, just make him really interesting to me. I have this feeling that Sukone Tei, with her similar origins, will probably be forgotten about by the song writing 2channers who made her just as quickly. Really kind of annoying - I love Miku and all, but it'd be really nice if people would spread some of the love rather than working towards Miku's 1,000,000th song while all the other voicebanks gather dust (even the other Vocaloids, in comparison to Miku).

I love Miku too, but she accounts for over 75% of all the vocaloid songs out there. Although her APPEND does sound pretty good.

What we need are some more GUMI songs as well, as she is probably the best (in terms of human-likeness) out there.

I think we'll see a boom in Gumi usage, she's getting more popular lately, and she seems to be catching up to Luka in terms of 'good' producers using her. There's a definite lack in Kagamine material (only a handful of albums between the two of them combined), the male Vocaloids get almost NO love at all, and MEIKO only gets used in gimmick situations any more. I dunno, I guess I should just shut up and be glad so much Vocaloid music is coming out at all, probably.

even VIPpaloids are too popular in comparison of the most interesting and unique voicebanks. But yes, the fact that they started as a joke dont make them the favourite choice for a 'serious' song. Memetics characters like Teto get mem songs ( like Fukkireta )
