So I've upgraded to Seven Ultimate 86x with the promises of being able to run Japanese locale 24/7 AND Windows Live Messenger at the same time (back on XP, it would give me an error and refuse to sign me in almost immediately), thus giving me unlimited power to run VN's.

However, as soon as I upgrade and change my locale, I find out that I can't play any Touhou that isn't a fighting game anymore. 6 through 12 shutdown and give me different errors. They open up to a black screen and the following error.

Also, I found out that, I can't download Windows Live Messenger at all using IE8 on this locale. And what pisses me off the most is that everything works FINE on english locale.

Do any of you have a clue on what I'm supposed to do? Please tell me? Pretty please?

>> No.6301728

They work fine for me.
Same with messenger

You're trying to open English patched games on Japanese locale?

Herpaderp.

Thanks for the laughter, anon. That woke me up.

Just get fucking WinXP, Op.

The reason I got sevenI was EXACTLY because XP wasn't working out the way I wanted.

And now I upgrade to seven, and mine is the only one that DOESN'T works the way I want.

Fuck me.

It runs fine on Windows 7 for me.

install gentoo

>> No.6301809

1) set compatibility to sp3
2) disable desktop composition
3) check your graphics card settings. may be some weird v sync hijinks
4) idklol it has to be your rig/settings, because it's not meant to be a problem on w7

>> No.6301817

I will never why you idiots bother with Japanese locale. I've always used Applocale for everything and never had any problem.

Enjoy your C:¥

I take it you don't run many japanese programs then. Plenty of things made in the last few years don't work or have issues with applocale

>> No.6301837

>>6301809

1) First thing I did, actually.

2)Tried it, didn't work.

3)I'm using on-board. It never shitted me when I played Touhou back in XP, though.

4)I'm on an emachines D525 laptop, 2GB ram, Intel Celeron 900 2.20GHz 2.19GHz, and an Intel Mobile 4 Series.

I don't think it's really an issue with this build. I'm more worried that this laptop was actually meant to be used with Vista, but then I downgraded to XP and now to Seven.

Delete it and install the program again.

>> No.6301897

So I can't download anything with IE8, meaning, I'll never make any progress like this.

Fuck it, I'm switching back to EN locale and dealing with it later.

Post your wallpaper please.

And yeah, I've got the same problem. My computer's shit when running in JAP locale, nothing fucking works. I only run it in JAP locale if installing it with Applocale doesn't work.

>> No.6301930

OP, use Chrome when on JAP locale.

In fact, don't ever go on JAP locale. Just download Applocale.

>> No.6301969

>>6301930

Well, I've been trying to get chrome, but this weird error pops up on IE8 everytime I try to download something. Google's auto installer or whatever they call that doesn't starts up either and I don't have any other browser since this is a fresh install. I literally just moved my shit to this PC a couple of hours ago.

Also, one of the reasons for upgrading to Seven was to get rid of applocale, which almost always wasn't quite working for me.

Have you tried running it in XP VM?
Have you updated your DirectX?

>> No.6302004

>>6301985

Actually, I installed the 2007 DX version that came in the Touhou folder, but I guess it's a fair shot to try to update it. Thanks!

And what's a VM?

>> No.6302005

>>6301969
Thanks man, appreciate it.

>> No.6302006

Quite frankly it sounds like your computer is fucked.

I used to run most things in AppLocale on Vista fine.
These days I can't be fucked and just stay in JP Unicode-something-something mode under Windows 7.

The only problem I've ever had is installing programs, finding out the UI has defaulted to JP then having to fumble through the menus to change it back to EN.

>> No.6302017

Always run on Jap Locale on 7 x86 and x64. Never have any problems besides when programs install according to set locale. Scanner software, I'm looking at you.

>>6302004
Most Touhou need certain d3dx .dll that you don't have on a newly set up PC and Windows 7 won't even tell you that they are missing.
When I tried them on my notebook, I had to open them in the Windows XP Virtual Machine (VM) for it to give me the correct error message.
At that time, fighting games and games prior to StB worked.

Tagged back to EN. Installan newest DX components now. Some Irisu Syndrome while I wait.

Fun fact: all Touhous work on EN locale WITHOUT the DX update, and Winrar didn't let me unpack Irisu on JP locale.

I'm starting to think that Windows Ultimate is ultimately frustrating. I think I'll switch to professional to see if the pasture'll turn greener.
