Miriam parts the barrier of Gensokyo, entering with her team of lawyers and accountants. They properly do everyone's taxes. As the residents of Gensokyo start to enjoy their secure finances and spends like a happy middle class, the need for prayers at the shrine drops, also creating a decline in donations. Reimu gets pissed and swears to find a final solution to the problem.

Marisa tags along to find rumored gold and latke recipes.

Since Yuuka and Alice reappeared in the series, they're expecting Mima to appear again too.

Mima seems to be more special than other old touhous because she was the boss of several games besides being playable and was played as Reimu's archenemy.

Furthermore, Mima was in every single PC98 Touhou game except 4. That's right, right from the beginning in Touhou 1, whereas Marisa only first appeared as her student/follower in Touhou 2. Mima was Touhou's original recurring character other than Reimu (and her turtle).

Furthermore, in Touhou 5: Mystic Square, the final PC-98 game, the 4 playable characters were Reimu, Marisa, Mima, and Yuka, and the EX Boss was Alice. Since Alice and Yuka migrated to Windows and became well received and popular, Mima is the only member of the final party who's missing out!

Suika causes a fuss at the Hakurei shrine, claiming that the oni are going to return to the surface. It is decided nearly unanimously among the youkai that this would be incredibly irritating, so they demand someone go underground to the oni's city to see if there's any way to get them to stay. Suika guides the heroine to the deepest part of the world; upon arrival, the heroine finds the city preparing for a huge event, which turns out to be a spell card tournament to determine who will lead once they reach the surface. The heroine is dragged into it and manages to defeat the four strongest oni, the Deva of the Mountain, and is selected as the oni's leader. She then orders them to forget about the whole return to the surface and just stay underground.

A few days later, a messenger frantically tells the heroine that the oni city is in a state of chaos and requires her assistance. The heroine returns to a cataclysmic blizzard; apparently, a human defeating the Deva caused "hell to freeze over." At the center of the storm, the heroine finds Cirno, who was driven by a mysterious urge to attack the oni city. After chasing the fairy away, the heroine returns home.
