Shiki Ryogi's eyes exploit the inherent flaws of other objects, these flaws manifesting in the form of the lines, though some things don't have inherent flaws and she therefore won't be able to destroy them. Shiki Tohno's eyes see lines that exist over everything that tap into the ultimate fate of that object (inevitable destruction at some point, which applies to all entities regardless of who or what they are). Roa/SHIKI's eyes drain the "life" out of beings through the same lines Shiki Tohno sees and are able to suck it out of any living thing regardless of what they are (in fact, he can get to Arc even when her lines shouldn't be visable).

Ryogi's eyes are generally the most powerful since her eyes usually act just like Tohno's except without the need to keep herself from looking at the lines. Objects she can't destroy are unfathomably rare and the existence of Gods in the Nasuverse at all is questionable at best. Tohno needs to wear the Magangoroshi almost all the time or his brain will explode from looking at the lines he sees. Roa/SHIKI is not able to destroy objects but in exchange can look at the lines freely.
