For Touhouvania II? I got it just fine from the Japanese uploader, though I had to sit through a 2 hour download time. It mounted fine with DaemonTools and the installer, patch and game worked fine with AppLocale.

Because it's a Japanese server, and these are mostly slow to westerners, besides there's no reason to cut some slack and have it preapplied, it's not like you already have a save or something, and some people may not be aware of the patch thus avoiding future problems with troubleshooting, making the preapplication of such patch highly desirable..

Sure there is. There's going to be more patches because there are always more patches. And the English patch for the previous game was official, so there very well may be an official patch that translates the game. Why prebundle the patch when it will eventually become obsolete?

i don't remember exactly if it was this game or not, but there was once a thing where one of the new bigger patches (i think the story+flandre one) required 1.00 to patch, so you had to reinstall a fresh copy first.

For those playing touhouvania 2, is the gameplay the same as the old one? Classic Castlevania instead of Metroidish? I highly prefer the latter over the former, but hoping for a sudden change between the two games would probably be foolish.

Just wait, I remember in C78 people were complaining so much about not getting stuff instantly and saying that this was the worst comiket in terms of downloading stuff. We ended up having about 15+ threads of stuff. Just chill out and it'll turn up eventually, some stuff for C78 is still turning up now. About 85% of the doujins are never uploaded and, from the 15% uploaded, 80% is never translated. On the plus side, most of the ones that aren't uploaded are bad, like, Deviant Art level. Music is more uploaded mainly because you don't need to destroy your CD in order to rip it and most people already rip them for their personal uses anyway. Some good music is never uploaded sometimes though, shit sux, although I do realize that it seldom happens.

I don't understand this behavior. C78 was the first Comiket I tried to follow somewhat actively, and I learned right away that asking is useless and that I should just sit back and be patient if I was waiting for something specific. This is my second, and by now I've already learned to check for releases myself, check likeliness for scans based on how easy it is to find older works from the circle, and setting up keywords to be downloaded if they are found on Share so that I'll get what I want from there automatically without having to sort through new scans all the time.

It's not really that hard being self-sufficient with these things, and it feels really fucking good compared to having to go through the trouble of asking someone and hoping someone will answer instead of just insulting you, so I don't understand why not more people try figuring out these things themselves.

It's simple. My first comiket was C76.

C76 was the worst. And then C77 was the worst too. C78 I didn't enjoy at all. And after that it went into a bit of a decline...

Seriously though, releases are definitely going downhill. C76, I remember getting up at 6 am to download stuff. By like 9 am there were like 4 touhou fangames released (what I was primarily after) and probably a bunch of porn. And stuff continued trickling in as the months passed; doing a search now shows 17 hits for "C76 東方 同人ゲーム". C77 was more or less the same, some stuff got released immediately and other stuff trickled in. C79? I haven't downloaded a thing from Share yet that wasn't fake. Not to mention the piss-poor output from ReitaisaiSP and kouroumu6. I certainly am panicking more than a leecher should be, but the amount of stuff being uploaded is definitely going down.

As for releases slowing down, most people here probably don't know about '適当lO6MMMMR1e'. For the longest time he scanned and uploaded an unbelievable amount of touhou doujinshi, so often and of such good quality scan wise that people doubted he was just one person (like they do with 台魔王). He wasn't the only one, 柴崎元治OOTbcdVSNK & 適当中の適当x1653uwy5I were also regulars. But they've all slowed down. You'll still see new uploads from them every once in awhile, but nothing like before. For awhile after that there was '鳥無し', (no id anonymous uploader) who seemed to somewhat pick up the pace with scanning touhou doujins and is probably responsible for the majority of touhou doujins we see now. I don't think people realize how dependent we are on a relatively small amount of people who decide to scan stuff for whatever personal reasons they have..
