you can get a cheap old ps3 and crack it to play isos
sony will ban your console from psn but whatever

i lowballed some guy for a working 60gb for $150 on craigslist. guess the guy really needed the cash.

i never use mine because i pirated most of my ps2 games anyway so emulator/hdloader ps2 is how i play them. cheapest is probably going to be a 40gb non-backward compatible or a broken one. a broken one that can't use its bluray laser might be what you want though. you're going to be playing isos anyway.

this is my speculation:
incentive to get ps3 is lower
because NGP will get PS3 games after a few years
