My only experience with Gaia was a friend of mine YEARS and YEARS ago was a mod there. Way before I ever heard about it on 4chan, in fact it took me forever to realize they were one and the same.

If I'm correct, it's a site where people have avatars dressed as cute anime characters, think avatars from Gunbound, I think it was similar. They chat with each other and trade avatar items which they get from posting or donating I think?

All I know about them now are the few posts from /a/ about some nerd from gaia and how much they hate /a/. I think it's the same site my friend moderated.

This looks like the same thing, an avatar based chat community.
