The first week of summer arrives and our thoughts turn to bikini-clad moebots frolicking on the beach between ABR bursts and to wondering why the resort area is still ankle deep in snow.

-Cosmic Ark's road warriors took to the mean streets of the Night Highway Tournament Sunday night, leaving wreckage and bullet casings in their path. Congrats to Forever 2nd Place and 鬼佬軍 for taking the top spots.
-Rare bot collector's campaign unveiled for the highest of the high rollers. Too rich for my blood, Cyberstep.
-Offer wall 50% bonus for Rt ends on Wednesday as does the Ivis garapon.
-Sure to be a hot topic, CB JP's new offer system will be unveiled this week after maintenance.

Since a lot of people have been throwing around the term pay2win recently, there's a GDC (Game Developer's Conference) 2011 talk about another pay2win game and what happened when they started charging money for more powerful weapons that may explain how this stuff works for some of you. The first part will sound rather familiar but the second part may surprise you.

Cyberstep has undoubtedly made the same calculations and is satisfied with the numbers, which is why they're staying the course despite the squealing on the forums. Don't bother pestering anyone for the numbers, CS has no reason to disclose them to you.

I of course don't know their numbers either but I wonder they're overplaying their hand. That they think the "Rare Gara-Robo Reward Campaign" is a reasonable offer hints that their avg. revenue per paying user is unbelievably high right now and I doubt that the current game model can sustain that level indefinitely, niche game or not. A few hundred star coins in, I'm tired of the upgrade treadmill myself and CS has failed to build a positive and supportive player community to entice me to stay.

Time will tell.

Besides, even if we gave everyone every loophole and pitfall that could cause waves to CyberStep, it's obvious that no one would go through with it because deep inside, they like the situation as is. more like here's the laws for gambling and here's you not understanding them, you have no grounds for complaining

CS is clearly using a totally different scheme for their business model compared to Battlefield Heroes. At least with that game, you're sure you'll get your money's worth. CB on the other hand is gambling heaven and relies heavily on chance (or shitty RNGs, rigged rates etc.). There's a clear difference in the two.

CB is Pay for a chance to win or Pay massively to win.

What's more is that, the advantages being sold in Battlefield Heroes isn't as drastic as the ones in CB. The advantages being sold in CB are like the ones you get for being a donator in a private server of some MMO. Quite a number of them are ridiculously overpowered or unbalanced.

Don't deny it. CS has been kept "upping the ante" in terms of bot stats/skills/specialties. You used to be able to do fairly well with Helingals even in an AA match. Not anymore. Where did all the Froglander hoppers go? Left the game. Face it, there are a lot of mechs now that can be labeled as outdated because most of the paying players have more or less something that can easily beat them.

If I'm reading it right, there's no actual gameplay in the offer system. Just get the disc, plug in the bots you want to use for the attempt, and sit back to wait for the result.

People who have been selling their gara bots to Crim are going to be mad though.

Found the announcement for the JP collector's campaign. There's three prizes instead of four and players have to have the collector's card for Aquila Girl, Mighty Byne Girl, Elisalotte, Melfi, Regina Winberyl, and Ion to qualify. Thtat's not really special though because the first 300 to get the bot also get the card. Maybe if we asked nicely they'd let us count sugoi garapon bots or older rare bots toward the EN campaign too?

The offer system seems like
- Get a disk, either as a drop or buy it
- Pick bots from your garage to go on the mission the disk offers
- Wait for the mission timer to run out. The bots are locked for however long the mission takes.
- Get the mission result and any prizes

It occurs to me to wonder how the bazaar will ever work in CB EN. Everything that's normally bought and sold in the bazaar other than materials either doesn't exist (Bastagant tickets) or has been pouring out of the UC garapons by the truckload (Arcantus drop weapons (3 slot, no less!), drop parts, Bastagant boss bits, slayer D and repair bits, accessories, etc.). What is there left that's worth buying and selling?

If I remember correct, you can also sell rare joints like the tournament prizes and RT campaign joints.

If CBus ever gets bazaar, I think it will be mostly casuals selling tuneup materials with autists like Kanbara and Vyolets buying enmass and rare joints going for hundreds of thousands of uc.

Apparently CosmicBreak has gained a lot of medics who will heal teammates "to have their team win". Unfortunately, this makes matches longer so players will gain less UC over time if they're trying to roomhop. WIZ surprisingly has the largest increase of these players practicing self-preservation techniques (I've seen some medics heal in epoch... OFFENSE).

Unless you're asukuu and you really do give a damn about your win/lose ratio and BR, please play stupid and charge into the front lines without mercy or remorse. That would be lovely for everyone!

But tanking is what makes the game fun, I'm bored of overly aggressive gameplay. In fact, the current metagame is too offensive, which may be why the inherently defensive/position holding bots like slower ART and SUP are seen as less useful than the offense-oriented LND and AIR. More entrenching and position keeping capacities will actually make the game more interesting, at least more interesting than the tested and true strategy of rushing the powerspot with 5 hoppers, 3 air and a few artillery or melee every game.

cbdevs should do something to fix this, cben isn't like cbjp where everyone has good connections with low and similar latency, therefore the code should adapt to this new scenario

I was certain the rule was "4 over 14"...
as in 14/18/22/26/30/34/38.

I have the boost run chart, and I know that cart throws a wrench into the whole process- 0 fly boost run still changes the break points somehow, and the movement "total" (as in your walk stat+fly stat) is not necessarily indicative of how fast you will go. For instance, 10 walk and 18 fly (total 28) would be considerably slower than 27 walk and 1 fly (also totaling 28).

40/17 is also an acceptable substitute according to the charts.

All I know is my 34walk fencer can run down 90% of bots out there, given enough time. Is it possible the breakpoints differ by bot (not just type?)

Sometime a few months from now, I, xz, shall be hosting a player elimination tournament
The only requirement to enter this tournament will be having a ranking of jewstar or higher (rank 28+,) it'll be a classic elimination style in the map glacier night (which in my opinion is the most balanced map in cosmic break)

Some rules or other things to note:
Items will be allowed (since I cbf to prevent people from using them)
Glacier night has a cost limit of 2.4k in a 1v1
All bots in the commando must be of 500 cost or higher
If a player disconnects or is deemed too laggy, it will be counted as a loss
The contestant that wins this tournament will recieve 2.6k in rt (or more)
A maximum of 32 players will be allowed to participate (may change)
The list of banned bots are: Lily Rain EVE, and Aquila Girl (More may be added in the future)

I'm telling you ladies of this tournament now to prepare your 1v1 bots, as some bots or commandos may take a few months to build and tune
