Hey /jp/, what would you say your favorite 3dpd films are? In the mood for something along the lines of Tennen Kokekko, but anything you'd consider a must-see, I'll check out.

I liked, and that come to mind: Suspect X, Adrift in Tokyo, Suicide Circle.

Japaneese films? Anything by Kurosawa. Seven Samurai is godlike. Rashoumon is very good. Ikiru is interesting.
Also, The Machine Girl.

Aaand, I just remembered Planet Terror. It's so, so bad, it's indescriptible. It's a marvel. It's like a C movie on steroids.
"To make the film look as authentically bad as possible, Tarantino and Rodriguez intentionally scratched their prints and edited out ''missing reels,'' so that a talky bit of onscreen exposition might, all of a sudden, hiccup into the middle of an action scene."
For me, it's the best zombie-related anything out there.

Thanks for the contribution, I'll definitely check those out.

Well, I was looking to expand my horizons on jp films, hence asking in /jp/, but anything will do. I'm more exposed to chinese & korean films through circumstance, so I didn't consider to include them in the question. But sure, if you've got any favorites~

Literally awful. AWFUL. Though I did find it amusing when I watched Red Cliff and saw the Tempura dad in it.

Not as bad as Tokyo Gore Police, though.

I apologize if you read the following and think I'm a huge faggot. My tastes are less than masculine. Nevertheless, here are a few 3DPD dramas that I like:

Swing Girls makes me nostalgia hard (I saw it my first year at law school, when I was feeling alone and lost, and the happy cheesy ending when they all lip sync a Nat King Cole song made me feel like things weren't gonna suck forever).

Ima Ai Yukimasu. Real men like romance.

Tada, Kimi o Aishiteru (aka Heavenly Forest). I saw it at the recommendation of Garten, who had a huge anime blog a few years ago. Really moving, and the chick is every dude's nerd-frind-becomes-hot fantasy.

The Nodame movies are pretty good IMO, though you'll be lost if you didn't watch the dramas.

Bubble Fiction: Boom or Bust is a lot of fun. Abe Hiroshi was and is a pimp.

This isn't a movie, but Kekkon Dekinai Otoko is my fave drama. It's mostly really well executed, though the end is a bit of a clusterfuck. The characters and music are the strong point of the show.

In case you didn't notice from the above, I'm a sucker for coming-of-age and/or lighthearted romantic shit. Based on what you said some of your faves were, I'd say your tastes are just a bit different from mine.

I enjoyed Swing Girls, Nodame, and Kekkon Dekinai Otoko. I'll have to check out some of the other movies you mentioned.

I enjoyed Departures (pretty sure that was the title). I watched Linda Linda Linda because I saw it recommended before but thought it sucked.

Lily Chou-Chou. Actually thought that was what the screen was from for a second.

I don't often play favourites, but you haven't seen movies until you've seen the movies from the following directors:
Андрей Тарковский
Ingrid Bergman
溝口 健二
黒澤 明
Robert Bresson

also check out Swing Girls. It was lots of fun, and if you're a fan of good music you'll love it.

This is a part very near the end so don't watch it through, just the beggining to get a taste of the music:

lol i just noticed the solos aren't as great as in the movie, for example in the trumpet solo the girl can't hit the same high note that she trained so much to achieve in the final presentation, but its still good. I guess thats because this clip wasn't edited to make everything perfect, unlike the movie, because well, it's a movie.

I love Adrift in Tokyo, you should check out all other Satoshi Miki movies, even though they're not as great. Especially "Instant Swamp" and "Turtles do not swim as fast as expected"

Same thing can be said about Shion Sono, the director of Suicide Circle. Noriko's Dinner Table is better and he has directed a bunch of other movies, I haven't seen everything but do check them out.

Also, seconding Lily Chou Chou, it's essential, and the last Japanese movie I've seen The Taste of Tea which was incredible so I recommend that
